  1. We needed a guy that gets open quickly with sure hands. Davis takes 2.5+ seconds to get open on deep crossers and other such routes, and Diggs got doubled. We needed the middle of the field guy that Beasley used to fill and without him teams were able to force us into high variance deep shots on 3rd and short. It killed drives.

Kincaid is the perfect antidote to that. He’s good in the middle of the field, has great hands, separates well, understands zone, gets up field after the catch and is open even when he’s covered.

The thing I haven’t seen talked about much is his role in the screen game. People say we don’t run screens, which is true if you only count the RB, but we run a lot of WR screens. Throwing to Diggs or Harty with Davis and Kincaid as blockers is going to help us generate easy 1st downs. Kincaid isn’t going to be an inline blocker, but he was pretty decent in space and leading a screen is going work for him.

It will be interesting to see if the use him for crack blocks instead of Davis. WR on DE should be a mismatch but Davis held his own, if Kincaid is better at that it frees up Davis to run more routes that don’t involve cracks and chips.

  2. Maybe I’m crazy but I think Kincaid improves the offense more than DHop would. DHop sick player who’d probably put up bigger individual numbers but I think schematically he wouldn’t really change the Bills offense, he’d just be a big upgrade over Davis.

Kincaid fundamentally changes the identity of the offense and is a chess piece to move around and exploit mismatches. I don’t think he will have as big of numbers as DHop would’ve, but I think he’ll help free up everyone else. I think the running game will be greatly improved and the red zone offense should be unstoppable next year. The more that Kincaid, Knox, Cook and Hines are involved in the passing game the better off we’ll be.
