[Rapoport] The #AZCardinals are not picking up the fifth-year option for former No. 8 overall pick LB Isaiah Simmons, sources say. He enters a contract year with a chance to make it count with a big season in coach Jonathan Gannon’s defense.

  1. Yikes. Feels like Reddick all over again and Simmons is going to ball out and walk.

  2. Not a surprise. I hope new coaches can make him look legit but this dude doesn’t have a natural position

  3. Hope he balls out but this is the right move. He’s not worth $11M at his current level of play, let alone fully guaranteed. I’d like to keep him here long term – the way he allowed Vance to disguise his defense has been a lot of fun to watch. But right now that’s the only value he’s adding to the defense, and that’s not worth $11M.

  4. Has there ever been a good tweener who was 6’4 and supposed to be a safety/linebacker hybrid?

  5. Gannon needs a plan for Simmons….I didn’t like the pick at 8 when we could have drafted Kyler’s buddy WR CD Lamb or Justin Jefferson or talented Guards….but Simmons is versatile and maybe Gannon has something up his sleeve…

  6. I wasn’t as high on Simmons when we drafted him but I think we will regret this.

  7. I love Simmons so much as a person seems like a super humble kid and is his own biggest critic. I want to see him ball tf out this year. But I agree with the majority here, he needs to improve his coverage skills.

He gives it all on the field and it shows! The way he plays reminds me a little of budda just no regard of himself or own body just goes out and tries to make plays. That goal line stance against the 9ers was incredible, or his forced fumble on renfrew was great to see. Exciting young player hope he continues to improve and can make a name for himself within our defense! GO CARDINALS

  8. Hopefully he balls out and goes to a great team or Monti/Gannon decide he needs to be extended whatever happens it will work out

  9. Just a guess but seems if he is put in a position and has time to actually learn it he would work very well. He was moved around so damn much.
