Kuiper on Dubon, “What Dubón forgets is this organization protected him. […] While the rest of the league is thinking ‘what the heck is this guy doing’. They could’ve easily thrown his tired little butt under the bus, but they didn’t.”

  1. I was in the group of being sad when we ended things with him. I’m not sad anymore. Seems like a poor character move to express zero gratitude for the team that helped develop him and give him a bunch of at bats, we all wished him well when he left. His comments feel uncalled for. People get traded all the time. It’s not personal.

  2. Always refreshing to hear how wise and measured Kuip and Kruk are about these things.

  3. Time to end this guys entire career with a 103mph fastball from doval inside the plate

  4. Putting up this quote without the context is misleading – it’s referring to a single silly incident (Dubon’s bunt single with a big lead) and how the Giants backed him up afterwards. Along with all of his other head-scratching brainfart moments.

Kuip’s entire take is reasonable and well-said.

  5. I do find amusing the discourse this incident has birthed, lots of people trying to fit their own narratives with some mental gymnastics 🤸‍♀️

  6. I’m just really bummed he made those comments. I guess when you win a world series that sense of entitlement goes to the head, and that’s what this feels like. I’m sure he’s a decent person and I’m glad he’s having success, but throwing your old team under the bus like that just seems really unnecessary.
