We win this series and be favoured against (likely) the very beat up Hurricanes. That puts us in the cup finals.
The Oilers and VGK are already killing each other and Seattle is gonna underdog their way to the cup finals a la Vegas a few years ago.

My thoughts:
1.) The forcheck continues to be a problem for other teams. Forcing defensemen to cough up the puck, beating defensemen to the puck and stripping defensemen of the puck. All of this is leading to possession and grade A scoring chances and goals themselves. All three goals were off the forcheck tonight. That relentlessness combined with this team’s skill plays a big factor in our success. Let’s hope the boys keep it up.
2.) Bobrovsky has dialed back the clock to his Vezina winning years. The dude has been unreal and not only has he made big time, clutch saves, but those saves have galvanized the team at times. Let’s be frank here: you need this type of goaltending if you want to go on a legitimately deep run. There are going to be games where this team is going to get outplayed. Goaltending coming up huge in those games makes more of an impact than you can possibly imagine. Bob playing like this gives us a legitimate shot.
3.) Defense and special teams continues to leave a lot to be desired. Bob has been phenomenal, but good lord we have to better in our own end. Multiple failed clearing attempts, getting caught out of position and giving up odd man rushes and turnovers are not how you want to play against this Leafs team. There is just to much firepower on their side to make those kinds of mistakes. Hopefully the boys clean it up on games 3 and
4.) Depth plays a role. Getting scoring from Lundell and Forsling was big. But also, Duclair and Reinhart looked good today. As did Luostarainen. In fact, there were times I thought the third line looked absolutely dominant out there. This is huge for us as teams are going to focus on that second line. With the other lines stepping up like that, it’s going to make things really difficult for Sheldon Keefe in terms of gameplanning. This team has a ton of talent on it. Them playing like it warms my heart.
5.) Stars show up. Tkachuk had a point, Barkov got the game tying goal, Verhaeghe had several good looks. When those guys produce, it gives this team every shot to close out games. Barkov putting up points is big. If he starts waking up this postseason things are gonna get fun for us.
Now we head back home up 2-0. That first home game is now all the more critical. Secure the win and we can put a chokehold on this series. Let’s hope the boys get after it.
