[Boland] Aaron Boone on the 10-game deficit: “It’s a long-ass season. We’re grinding right now. It’s tough for us right now, and we’ve got to find a way. The guys are competing their asses off.”

  1. Hicks and IKF are giving it their best. That’s 16 million really trying hard dollars!

  2. I’m just picturing this Boone fella in a huge bathtub, with a cheese board, sucking down champagne.

  3. Y’all want a participation trophy for effort? That should come without question. Do they not try some days?

Enough with these moral victories already. This is a results based business. Actually no it isn’t as per Cashman it’s a process based business.

  4. just get the fucking wild card, the division race is over. It won’t matter unless #99 remembers how to hit under the lights anyways

  5. I think this is the year this team finally falls apart and misses the playoffs. After years of rot of bad signings and regressions. I just can’t see this shit turning around with all these injuries left and right.

  6. Someone said to me today that Yankee fans were following each of the 162 games like football fans follow the 16 of theirs.

It’s 10X the scrutiny for 1/10th the importance.

Yeah, I get it…baseball is meant to be watched over a longer time interval; trends, streaks, and storylines are supposed to play out over weeks and months.

But, since we’re so connected and engaged, it’s hard not to treat every game like it’s Sunday.

    It’s a double edged sword.

    I love being this engaged.

  7. not enough head to head games to afford to lose one because your LF cant catch

  8. Bauers is a real person, so I don’t want to be a jerk, but look at his numbers. Better than mine, but that he even puts on the pinstripes is an indictment of how poorly managed this club is.

  9. Talk is cheap. Don’t tell me show me. You are what your record says. I love the Yanks. Just calling it the way how I see it.

  10. Tbh I think whats happening is probably long term better for the franchise than just running it back last year and coasting to a 95 win season and getting bounced early in the playoffs. This roster Cashman put together was obviously flawed and had 0 depth. If they don’t make the playoffs at all then obviously the blame has to fall on Cashman. Boone is just a mouthpiece and if you get rid of him without removing Cashman and the brain trust around him nothing is gonna change.

  11. A Mets fan sent me a tweet yesterday that said this below. In short, there’s 129 games left.

National League Champions records through 32 games for the last 4 full seasons.

    2018: Dodgers 15-17
    2019: Nationals 14-18
    2021: Braves 15-17
    2022: Phillies 15-17

  12. 129 games left for them to catch up. Yes, they’re grinding but the results are not there. They have to be better. Defense is a big part of the game. Rizzo made an error the other day that cost the team two runs, Bauers today. The Yankees have 40% of their lineup as replacements they need to be perfect to win. An error here, wild reliever there spells loss right now.

  13. When Barry Trotz was the coach of the Isles, he used to say something along the lines that the NHL wasn’t a developmental league, but a league where you needed to get results in.

Same applies for MLB, Boone. Trying means nothing, wins are all that matters.

  14. I don’t think anyone is questioning the effort Aaron. The team just sucks and on the occasional day they have a chance to win, you do everything in your power to screw it up.

  15. No they’re not. The orioles are. They were expected to suck and they are doing well.

  16. If a losing season is what’s needed to finally dumpster Cashman, I’m all about it.

  17. competing their asses off? I think most people getting paid MILLIONS to play a game are competing their asses off.
Thats not the issue. the issue is , THEY AREN”T GOOD AT THEIR JOBS!!!! and neither are you BOONE!!

  18. These interviews are a waste of time for everyone from manager to fans. There is nothing to learn beyond injury news. Pointless. We want to see good baseball and not stupid mistakes (and ofc more victories than defeats).

  19. So he pulled the “We’ve got to find a way” string again. He keeps saying that which basically means “I have no clue how to fix this mess”.

  20. I think the guys are playing their asses off. I also think Boone isn’t helping them given his questionable BP decisions.

  21. im sure Cashman and the rest are all ready to accept the blame with zero consequences.
