[Stapleton] One crumb from Brian Daboll’s presser this morning: Jalin Hyatt could get some looks at punt returner this spring. This is the time of year where #NYGiants expect to be creative and try some things out that may or may not stick during the season.

  1. I love Daboll but the man needs to stop putting key players at punt returner. Really my only gripe with his coaching.

  2. Considering he’s known as a straight line speed guy opposed to juke moves this is odd. If they said kickoff return I’d get it totally.

  3. Guessing there are generally lots of crumbs wherever Daboll has been ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  4. Guaranteed they’ll be signing a vet punt returner specialist by mid August

  5. I’m sure they’ll try lots of guys, but wouldn’t worry too much about Hyatt, they’ve been looking elsewhere already to address the job it seems.

They have two veteran returners – Jaydon Mickens who is a true specialist with 69 punt returns and 35 kicks returns but only 15 receptions in the NFL (signed mid December last year to the PS), and Jamison Crowder who started doing it again last year for Buffalo after not doing it much since nearly 100 over his first three seasons. He only had a 4 game playing season last year, but his rate on his 9 returns would have been 3rd in the league so he was in good form at least.

Kalil Pimpleton who the Giants stashed on the practice squad last year also did a lot of punt returns in college. His 19.0 YPR his last year was #3 in the FBS, would have been #1 this year. Technically, Eric Gray also returned a few in college too, so I’m sure they’ll at least see what he’s got during camp.

  6. Great way to blow a knee out of have his head taken off. Pease don’t do it
