Yeah. People want a scapegoat for our inability to hit with RISP and overall sputtering offense. I won’t excuse his defense but there are multiple others you could point to for our offensive woes
They’ve both underperformed so far this season. Soto seems to have picked it up a little bit in the last 5 games or so, but if I look at both of their stat lines so far this year I see a lot of red flags. I seriously hope they turn it around.

3rd base is a premium position. There are 3 OF slots. We can list dozens, if not more, OF players who produce and not cost nearly as much as Soto will demand.
Manny has proven his worth and he’s been rightly rewarded and has earned the benefit of the doubt…Soto on the other hand, time is against him in a Padres uniform.
They both blow this season
Soto’s OBP is higher than Machado’s SLG…ouch
I’d keep young Soto over manny all day . Higher upside while manny peaked
We’ve seen Manny be great as a Padre. We have *never* seen that from Soto. It is a very fair position to take.
