  1. I saw that, too. But it wasn’t a knock on Sam or an endorsement or Trey. Rap made it sound more like he suggested Darnold could start and his source with the Niners basically asked “why do you assume Trey can’t beat him out?”

    Felt more like “it’s an open competition” than an endorsement of either QB.

  3. Kyle Shanahan just wants a QB competition, I think he hates the idea of handing someone the starting spot, he loves a high stakes practice

  4. The man has thrown 500 passes over 8 entire calendar years. It’s totally valid people are questioning if he can even play.

  5. When Jimmy and Purdy were kicking ass last season, I didn’t give two craps about the Lance experiment.

    We ride the hot hand. If Darnold is “the guy” when camp ends, let’s get on board with him. If it’s Trey, it’s Trey. I simply don’t care about the assets we gave up for Trey – we can’t undo that trade.

    We have two QBs on rookie deals. We’re still in great shape no matter what.

  7. I’m for the team. Whoever is performing the best should start. But I will say it’s odd that every report I see says Brock Purdy will be good to go by OTAs, yet so many people talk as though him missing next season is a foregone conclusion.

  11. Of course he would say that. If there is a want to trade Lance then it is not good to say he will be third string. That would destroy any value that Lance has in the eyes of other teams. Also not a good motivator for Lance either.
