  1. They were considering Jermaine Johnson at 10 last year so I kind of buy it

  2. Wasn’t there a report they didn’t even view Broderick Jones as an option? Hence why they said they’d never reach for a need?

  3. Their philosophy is best player available so it makes sense. The guy is a physical freak and I can see him being a 10 sack guy and a long-time starter. This gets me wondering whether JD is cooking up a trade. A trade with the cardinals for Dhop or Budda and an Olineman?

  4. Take everything he says with a grain of salt. We’ll probably never know if they would have taken the LT if he was available

  5. I’ll buy that they legit viewed WMD4 as BPA at 13 or 15. But they definitely seemed to prefer a trade down and spent most of the clock exploring options there. Which is just good due diligence regardless. Clearly no offer was coming that was worth it to them. Which tells you how the other teams viewed the “can’t miss” players we didnt take instead.

  6. What else is he gonna say? “Yea, we didnt get the guy we wanted so we took the scraps.”?

  7. HC says the player picked is who they always wanted. What a surprise.

Is Saleh telling the truth? Maybe, I have no idea. Also, I don’t fault Saleh for giving similar answer to what every other HC would give in his shoes.

  8. That’s why it took every second of their time for the pick as they called every other NFL team looking to trade out 😂 Cmon we all saw it. It’s OK, though. Saleh sticks up for their guy.

  9. There was no way they were drafting a rookie tackle in the first to protect Rodgers.

Tackles take awhile to adjust to the NFL. Even the great Trent Williams had a bad rookie season.

  10. Saleh really values his pass-rushers I can see a lot coming out of this guy and he seems to be an overall nice addition to an already elite defensive front

  11. I absolutely believe this. It really pissed me off hearing the narrative about how bellicek screwed us over trading the Broderick jones pick to pitt. Just bc the writers and mock draft specialists had us taking Broderick does not mean that was our FO’s strategy

  12. If i take him at face value, that would have been stupid. Picking him at #15 was stupid!

But looks like Saleh did not want to give Belichick the satisfaction.

  13. If they had passed on a tackle for an end, I would have lost my fucking mind

  14. My big takeaway is it sounds like Saleh plans on starting Becton at LT. I did not see that coming. Dude must still be dominating out there.

  15. I don’t see this as “we were taking McDonald no matter what” but more “we liked everyone we thought would be there from 13-15”

I still think they would have taken Jones @13.

Saleh is also a defensive-minded coach so I’m sure hes thrilled they went with an EDGE.
