[Blackburn] Michael Malone had some interesting things to say to us today after last night’s game. Among the notable points: everything is on the table for changing up the rotation in Game 5. Malone specifically mentioned Reggie Jackson (extra ball handler) and Peyton Watson (defender).

  1. No mention of Zeke or even Cancur.

I have nothing against Reggie, but I don’t wanna see him out there

  2. Reggie? Hell no. At this point I’d rather see Zeke or Cancar over Jeff Green

  3. The reason he mentions Reggie as a ball handler is Reggie can take bring the ball across, dribble around a pick to start a play, facilitate a good entry pass… these are all jobs Murray has to do in addition to being the #2 scoring option. And when Joker sits they ask even more of Murray.

I don’t hope for reggie to shoot too much, but if this saves some of Murray’s stamina and allows Murray to work off the ball more, it could work out

  4. most important game of the season (so far).

Malone: let’s experiment with something new.

  5. Hindsight 20/20 but Game 4 would have been a better game to experiment with adding more players to rotation, worst case it sucks and still end up 2-2.

  6. Excited to see possibly Zeke or PWat getting some mins

Honestly Malone’s been pretty good this playoffs. Hoping he’s still cooking

  7. It’s wild that Malone has to go to his 17th century wartable and move little pieces around and discuss with a panel of tacticians to see Pwat over Jeff Green could be helpful. Dude has eyes and somehow can’t see it.

  8. So, Thomas Bryant to the starting five with Jokic off the bench? Or would you start DeAndre over Thomas?

  9. He has to get Mal off ball somehow. They have him bottled up and are applying constant on ball pressure.

  10. I’m all for Peyton getting some minutes. Reggie makes me a little nervous when he has the ball in his hands. Maybe I’m crazy, but I think ish is the spark that this bench needs. He can get ten points alone with that mid range jumper.

  11. Blackburn also said Zeke would definitely play in 70+ games this season.

I don’t doubt there will be some changes but I wouldn’t expect anything drastic. Good teams are supposed to win at home. It’s why you push for a better seed.

  12. Oh no. Hope he doesn’t go too buckwild with changes and we get hammered in those minutes. I’m all for adjustments, but the playoffs is a tough time to just try shit out and see if it sticks

  13. This sub ; Malone make changes!
    Malone ; I make a change
This sub ; no that’s not what we meant

  14. Zeke and Watson are the obvious choices for lineup changes. Do not play Reggie Jackson, automatic bucket for book or KD if he gets switched on them

  15. Reggie Jackson wasn’t that good in the regular season. Defense isn’t great, doesn’t space the floor, not efficient when trying to score.

  16. The Clippers nicknamed Reggie Jackson “Big Government” because he was always bailing them out. I’d love to see him ball out.

In his last year on the pistons he developed a very good off ball game, most notably a great catch and shoot corner 3

  17. Pwat playing actual minutes in the 2nd round of the NBA playoffs would be insane.

It’s already pretty crazy that Braun has carved out a playoff rotation spot as a 21st pick rookie, but he was pretty NBA ready from the jump. Watson being a 30th pick project player… I did not really think was a possibility.

  18. I’ve wanted Watson from the start of this series; even made a post.

Hope I get to see it play out.

  19. Not sure why he’s waited so long to test Watson? Booker shooting almost 80% the last two games seems like a problem Watson might be able to help solve?

  20. My crazy/stupid ass thinks Peyton will be key. I am not a Peyton truther by any means, but in this matchup I think his length and motor on defense will be absolutely critical.

To give Peyton the best chance at succeeding I say fuck it you start him and Bruce brown in place of kcp and mpj. Tell KCP to be the role model for mpj and show him how to take loosing his starting spit. Starting Peyton has the advantage of fueling him with confidence. You will know pretty quickly if it will work or not and have rest of gave to correct it. It also allows you to hide Jamal of okogie and save his energy. Have bruce take up the ball so Jamal can conserve his energy. Do a dribble hand off and let Jamal initiate offense.

On offense I would love it if we try and get booker switched more on AG and clear out for AG and have him just bully/back down booker to make him work on offense.
