Friedman reports that the decision for the Chicago Wolves to go independent upset some “influential people” in the hockey world, and the Hurricanes are in discussions to remain affiliated with them in some way. Timestamp is about 58:001

That moves still doesn’t make any sense. I get why the Wolves would want to (still think that’s debatable), but the NHL and AHL probably despise the idea. Just seems like it’d create a potential imbalance within the AHL and mess up the NHL development process.
I would be very happy if they stayed affiliated, but I hope that doesn’t mean tensions will be high.
