  1. Not totally giving up but I find it hard to believe we’ll take three in a row, two in Raleigh. No shame. Great season and didn’t get swept.

  2. I started out by finding happiness in the positives like “we weren’t supposed to be here at the start of the season”, “we beat the Rags”, “we didn’t get swept”. Then my shitty mental health kicked in and now I’m full on depressed…….Hello Darkness My Old Friend………

  3. For real though, if we win Game 5, do you know how hype Game 6 is gonna be Saturday? Just gotta win 1 game.

  4. If Blackwood saves our season that would be the most poetic justice ever lmao

  5. At least we know Akira is our future goaltender, and we have a chance to win 3 straight and take this series, as the Devils have done 7 times this season!
Let’s go Devils, let’s go Akira!

  6. Last series against the Rangers: GF – 17 GA – 17

    This series: GF – 11 GA – 25

Fact is this team is still young and not really prepared for playoff hockey. We barely got out of round 1 and got embarrassed/outplayed in every single loss so far. Happy with the year we had but there’s still a ton of work to do if we want to make future runs at a cup. Goaltending, Defense, Coaching, Special Teams, Offense. Everything needs to improve, hanging losses on one or two areas of our game is shortsighted.

  7. Absolute embarrassment. I know it’s been a magical season, but if I were Josh Harris, I would consider firing Lindy if they put a similar effort in Game 5.

  8. Genuine question….. would you rather work a trade for Saros or Demko centered around Bratt? Idk who else is available in net. VV isn’t a playoff performer. Schmid is good but I still think he should be a backup for another year or 2.

  9. Why do they completely meltdown when facing adversity? This wasn’t an issue during the regular season.
I know, it’s been an absolute gem of a season as a fan…probably the best regular season in devils history. But goddamn it’s been brutal witnessing our 6 playoff losses so far just be complete embarrassments.

  10. Oof size: XXL.

Didn’t we lead the NHL in comeback wins? Why is Carolina our kryptonite?

  11. Every game is a game 7 mindset now,

Inb4 3 straight Schmid W’s coming up clutch for the Devils!!

  12. Team is still young. Probably just first time playoff jitters. Even if we don’t make it this year, there’s always next year. I’m sure they will improve with time. Still proud of what they accomplished for their 1st playoff run! I still believe this team will make a cup within the next couple years!

  13. This was the worst playoff home game I’ve been to and I’ve been to over 30 easy.. Worse than OT loses to Modano and Kopitar, worse than Carolina scoring 2 in 90 seconds in game 7, worse than losing game 6 in 2001 against Colorado. Rather see a Heartbreaker then that pathetic second period performance.

  14. This game is on ruff. Carolina showed their hand and not once did they stray away from it. It was still the winning hand!

  15. Start Schmid in game 5 and give Bahl more ice time/defensive responsibility. I have said it 100 times…defense wins championships! Devils are to quick to try and transition up ice resulting in them not taking care of their own zone first . Every high scoring game they have been in has been because their defensive coverage has sucked. They are to worried about running out of their zone to go on offense. Play good defense first and the O will take care of itself.

  16. The doom and gloom of a humbling playoff series never ceases to amaze. Don’t need to go over the bonafides of this outfit but the idea this is end of the road either this season or in the future is folly.

Name me one team in the modern NHL after a prolonged journey through the wilderness of futility that just stormed through a playoff and won a cup? Definitely not the Islanders, they ate shit. oilers? Nah, years of learning what it took to win. Calgary? See Edmonton. Montreal (86 and 93) always lurking in the playoff hunt and got hot at the right time. The Rangers? Presidents trophy winner in 92 lost to a great Penguins team, bottomed out in 93 and tooled together a veteran laden squad in 94. 94 seemed to help the devils in 95, I dunno? Detroit and Quebec/Colorado? Remember how nasty that Nordique team was? Rangers put their nose in the dirt in 95. The Stars? Tons of heartbreak leading up to 99.

I can keep going but it’s the story that needs to play out. No team is above it. Maybe we learn all the lessons again like in the previous series and pull the rabbit out of the hat one more time. It’s sports, you’re never dead until you are.

  17. Honestly if we lose Game 5, this season is still a better success than what we usually deal with, we got past the 1st round and beat the Rangers.

We have a good team now, we just need to get the young guys more experience.

  18. Get Hellebyuck. He doesn’t wanna be in Winnipeg anymore. Get hellebyuck.

  19. Hey, at least we didn’t go all in on a catchphrase like “TIME TO EAT”

    That would be truly embarrassing
