SF Giants Attendance Slips Despite Cheaper Beer and New Rules

  1. Probably because the cheaper beers are actually smaller, and the product on the field is not that exciting to watch on a day to day basis. The stark feast/famine of this team relies on high offense days being more frequent than the latter

  2. I absolutely can’t stand the new rules. They never accounted for the people who enjoyed 3-4 hour experiences like myself. Love my Giants and I’ll always pay attention to what’s going on in the season but it’s more passive now than ever because of these changes

  3. There’s no “baseball” or “cost” reason for this: San Francisco has not recovered from the pandemic yet. Along with massive tech layoffs, historic office vacancies, and an unseasonably cold spring, it’s unsurprising the Giants can’t draw crowds for tasty matchups like *checks notes* Tuesday night against the Nationals.

  4. Bad weather so far, no marquee names, expected .500 record. It all adds up.

  5. It doesnt matter if the ticket price is $10 (or free) if it still costs $40 to park

  6. The cost is starting to outweigh the benefits. For me it doesn’t make sense to pay the cost of a ticket and commute over an hour to the game only for it to be over so quickly. Or miss an inning and a half just to go take a piss.

  7. Love to drive down from the north bay for games but parking plus bridge toll is a kick in the nuts before you even get into the park. Ferry isn’t much cheaper from what I’ve seen.

Shout out to the Hi Dive for cheap, strong as hell pregame drinks though

  8. No one wants a $9 Dixie cup of NASCAR beer. Last night I came across a Pliny in club level for $24.

Parking prices are fucking egregious this season

Tickets are pretty cheap if you do it right on secondary, but that gets offset by the parking and concession pricing.

  9. I haven’t been interested in going tbh. I went to one game so far and the magic isn’t there for me. I found myself not wanting to even follow this team anymore. I used to watch every game, now I could care less. I have no emotional connection to this team this year and it makes me sad. They just don’t do it for me.

  10. It’s more expensive to park than it is to get in the game. Plus those cheaper beers are just baby cups. Not like it’s the same size cup for less. $9 for less than a can. Food has gotten worse, too.

  11. I’d prefer my house over live. I get to have all the food and drink I want, get to hear kruk and kuip and have my own bathrooms.

  12. They don’t have cheaper beers. They have an option to spend less on a smaller beer at a higher price per ounce than the regular sized beers.

  13. i usually go to 5 to 10 games a year. dont feel compelled to go this year. i might go in summer just to check out the stadium but not super in love with this team and barely know whos on it. but thats just me.

  14. Hey Giants Management: Did you know that some parks sell $3 -$4 beers (Miami, Atlanta, Minnesota, Milwaukee, and Seattle)? Give us a better deal on beer! It’s going to all be ok if you don’t gouge the fans for every possible penny of profit.

  15. The team needs to play a bit better and have something more inspiring than just Webb and Thairo Estrada. Last night’s crowd for Schmitt’s debut was energetic, exciting, very lively.

  16. The city is a dump, crime is rampant, the team is sub 500, is anyone surprised?

  17. This team is just not worth paying to see. Estrada is good but he’s not can’t miss talent like Bonds, Lincecum etc. were in the past. Maybe once some of the more promising prospects start to make their debuts ( Schmidt was a good start last night) it will change, but for now it remains just not worth the time/ money.

  18. I don’t give a shit about beer. Maybe that should be in the calculus

Maybe you cheap bastards can put working doors in the bathroom stalls and give me a little shoulder space at your divider-less urinals.

  19. I’ll be honest I just like watching sports at home or at a bar/restaurant

  20. Chuck & Larry just sitting around waiting for Farhan to pull a contender out of his ass before they’ll give him more money. Meanwhile, we’re all out here being charged like the Giants are that contender, when they certainly haven’t proved it.

  21. No big deal to me… I love it when it’s not crowded and I can move around. Going to a game is just a fun experience. It doesn’t have to be expensive – I don’t drink beer and I always bring in my own food. So I spend $8 on a big soda and keep the cup as a souvenir.

Parking pissies me off but I found a cheapish lot ($30 for a weekend game) less than a ten-minute walk to the game.

  22. Management thinks people are going to spend their entire afternoons or evenings going out to the game for cheap beer? If they put a winning product out there, people will pay the ridiculous beer prices and fight each other to get tickets to go. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

  23. The beer pissed me off, advertising $9 beers when they are half the size…
