  1. Good game for the young bucks. Morel, Mervis, and Alzolay all showed up big time. Great W

  2. I don’t think we can talk about it enough, but it really seems like this team completely elevates it’s potential when Yan Gomes is in the line up. Dude is a literal game changer.

  3. After the conclusion of nine innings, the Chicago Cubs had more runs than the Minnesota Twins. That is how the Cubs won tonight’s ballgame.

  4. Really hoping we can stop posting the dumb “10 RUNS OR A SHUTOUT” meme soon

  5. Nice win, with contributions from basically everyone. The only real downer is Smyly getting fucked by the scorekeeper so those 2 runs count against him.

  6. I owe Smyly an apology. I was really down on him after spring training (6.06 era) and his first start where he gave up 7, but he hasn’t given up more than 2/game since.

    He’s locked in.

  7. Awesome game. The Twins bullpen is no joke. Very encouraging to see this lineup get to them.

  8. Great game on the road against their ace with an area code for a strike zone from the ump.

  9. This is a very good team.

Bad luck in a few games especially against the cursed Marlins. Gomes and Bellinger will probably regress on offense. Steele will come down a bit but still be great.

But nothing Happ, Wisdom (!), Swanson, Nico are doing is unsustainable. Rotation solid across the board. Bullpen isn’t even that bad and some of the meh guys have picked it up (besides boxberger, who blows)

  10. Really nice win. Battled back from an early deficit. Pitching was solid top-to-bottom, vets contributed, and the youngsters did their thing.

  11. Great game all around. SP, offense, and bullpen.

Gray pitched really well but got him out early with pitch count. Mervis and Morel leading the way. Suzuki with a few good at bats. Gomes being awesome as always.

  12. Hot take: the Cubs should score more runs than their opponent every game.

  13. Gomes is a beast, but honestly it’s rather pathetic how terrible without him behind the plate. We’re not winning anything substantial in the postseason (if we even get there at all) unless we can figure out how to win even in his absence.

Also who knew Morel would be just fine back in the majors? Couldn’t be any of us fans, right Jed?

  14. Silver lining of the Nico injury is that nobody will be able to deny Morel an everyday spot in the lineup

  15. I’m smiling. Morel and Mervis are the real deal in the small sample size this season. They’re game changers

  16. Morel is such a sparkplug.

Smyly is the best #3 pitcher in the MLB?

Playing.500 ball 2 games back of the lead in the Central. Tied for the last Wild Card. That’s where I want to be in September.
