Would love to see Davidson work magic and bring Draisaitl over in free agency when the time comes.

Picture this: it’s two years from now, the prospects are developing well, Bedard is lighting the league up, the sub is going crazy that Davidson pulled a Hossa free agency signing 2.0 and is signing Draisaitl. r/hockey hates us, and life is good.

Darnell Nurse stands out on this list like a sore, rotten, necrotic thumb
Would love to see it, but Drai will likely (hopefully) be priced out of our team. He’s been underpaid for years and deserves a significant pay raise.
That said, the 2025 free agent class is stacked as fuck so I would hope we snag at least one great player out of that year. Not all will remain UFAs until then, but notable names include:
– Draisaitl
– Rantanen
– Marner
– Giroux
– Tavares
– Nelson
– Kuzmenko
– Verhaeghe
– Marchand
– Buchnevich
– Konecny
– R. Smith
– Crosby
– Boeser
– Hedman
– Kuznetsov
– Mangiapne
– Gourde
– Theodore
– Bennett
– Ekblad
– Ehlers
– Hall
– Iafallo
– Chychrun
– Slavin

Again, a lot of these guys (most?) will be signed to either extensions or with a new team after a trade in the next few years, some like Sid/Hedman will never leave their teams, but man the class seems to be unusually loaded lol
We’ll have to re-visit the lists next offseason to see who could be a target but yea, I would love to start eyeing top free agents after the next two seasons. Hopefully the young guys start to prove themselves so we won’t be as reliant on needing a free agent but, as someone else mentioned, adding a Hossa-esque pickup would be massive. Or even “just” a strong add like Madden or Campbell.
