  1. Shades of Shaedon again imo. And remember, they passed on established players (OG?) because they liked Sharpe so much. Doubt they’re regretting that decision. Should they keep the pick, a “surprise” like this would not be surprising at all.

  2. Personally, I couldn’t trust Schmitz more. I really hope that wether or not the pick is traded, due diligence is done on all available prospects.

  3. I would love Amen next to Shae. I don’t want Scoot. I no longer trust short PGs. Who was the last short PG to lead their team to a title not named Steph because he had a historically stacked roster? It doesn’t happen! We need size! We should go the OKC route and never draft another player under 6’5″ ever again.

  4. As a Raps fan whose western-conference team is the Blazers: god, I hope not, and it’s not because I like the Raptors-Blazers trade where we get the #3 pick as a part of it.

The Thompson twins are *giant* risks, and not really comparable to the risk the Blazers took drafting Sharpe. We are talking here about two 20-year-olds who spent a year playing against high school kids – if they didn’t have enormous stats it would have been a shock, frankly, and there’s a decent argument that they weren’t even the best players in the OTE league this year (this is the “Cam Boozer was better” argument).

The other problem is that the stats you would *want* to see them excel in versus high school kids – IE, the ones where playing against high schoolers wouldn’t inflate the numbers, like shooting percentages, turnovers, et cetera – weren’t impressive. Turnovers were average, shooting splits were if anything a little below average. Given that these guys look to be NBA wings – either big SGs or slightly small SFs, based on their 6’7″ height – that’s not great?

Seriously. The Thompsons have upside, but there aren’t more overhyped players in this draft class and only the overall weakness of the class is letting them stay so high. As a late-lottery pick, they’re maybe worth a gamble because they’ve got NBA bodies and they don’t appear to be stupid and that’s a combination that’s worth a flutter late in the lottery. But at #3? Brandon Miller and Scoot are both absolutely better options to take than the Thompson twins are. Hell, Gradey Dick and Cason Wallace are better options than they are, and you shouldn’t pick either of those guys at 3.

  5. I trust Schmitz but I think Miller is just objectively better. I really don’t like the bad competition in OTW

  6. Personally have Amen at 2 in my big board. I’m not that high on Scoot and BMill’s potential. 4-5 years from now, I can see Wemby, twins, Bufkin, Whitmore and Jarace as the best players in this draft.
