Big O Season Highlights

Big O is part 2 of all the hawks players season highlights.

Another big season for OO showing a lot of progression, lots of ongoing discussion about his role going forwards and obviously a lot will depend on what we decide to do with Capela.

OO continues to add more to his bag around the rim and in the paint offensively while extending his range to knock down more mid range shots and even a couple of threes! His FT% was also up 5% on last season and he continues to lock down some of the leagues best offensive threats.

I’m a huge fan of Capela and what he provides as a more traditional 5, his dirty work, rim protection and board getting is not something to be understated and if we commit to OO going forwards (which I think we have to) we will definitely miss a lot of what capela provides.. that being said the upside on OO continues to grow.

  1. i love Clint but excited to see Onyeka fully unleashed if we do move on from CC this summer.

  2. A lot of big decisions this offseason. I personally would like to see Okongwu get the starting 5 spot, and us explore trading Capela as well, but I don’t think it’s still a priority this year either. The combination of the two gives Atlanta one of the best 5 rotations in the NBA, so I don’t think we need to inherently move away from that advantage but at the same time, I think Okongwu and Trae need to start building up their chemistry too. At some point, Capela playing over him is impeding that sort of progression, but maybe Snyder can stagger their minutes more
