S Alohi Gilman tabbed as Chargers’ ‘best-kept secret’ in 2023

I honestly liked Alohi, I know a lot of people are shooting for John johson, but I feel like alohi had many flashes last year and will only get better as he is learning under derwin
I wouldn’t mind Johnson at all still but I really am comfortable with Gilman starting. Our safety group does not bother me. I want to see Woods get a shot to earn a role as a third safety, and maybe see Raheem Layne or Mark Webb carve out spots on the roster.
I am more comfortable with Alohi than I ever was with Nasir. Just being honest. It is still a substantial upgrade.
I was expecting them to draft or sign a FA safety, but Alohi has def earned his shot. I still think they bring in someone for depth though.

Still need them to add a safety, especially with how often Derwin gets put at STAR and if any injuries happen. We absolutely CANNOT just be “good enough” in the secondary when we play the Chiefs twice a year
