  1. Not a good look for Shaw. I’ve found a lot of solace in the fact that Hawks fans have been very much in support of Beach, so it’s very disappointing to see an alum of the team say something so tone deaf. He has no reason to speak about this at all and especially not when his take is to victim blame.

  2. Holy fuck Shawzy, horrid take my dude. What the fuck??? “I would’ve never been in that position.” Like Kyle fucking wanted this shit to happen??? Get fucked dude.

  3. Of all the things to say about the situation, he willingly picked the worst option.

  4. I haven’t listened to the clip, so I don’t know what context this was in, but that’s a bad look on the surface for Shaw. If he was essentially saying “you should never be hanging out and drinking with your coaches” then I can at least see how it could be taken out of context.

  5. Holy shit what an asshole take. How is it not obvious to people that it’s *never* the victim’s fault for being assaulted

  6. Massively disappointing to hear this from Shaw but not totally surprising either. It’s sucks that Kyle Beach helped out Shaw when he was a rookie coming into the NHL and still Andrew had to victim blame him for not beating up Aldrich. Power dynamics are a thing bud.

  7. This is an example of people taking a quote and paraphrasing it to suit their narrative.

    Here’s the full context:

    * Shaw lived with Kyle during their time at Rockford, and has nothing bad to say about him. He even paid Shaw’s rent & groceries until he got his first paycheck.
    * When asked about the 2013 run/incident he says the Beach situation was basically rumors and the players/coaches didn’t know much about it since it was during the playoffs where the team was focused on winning (everything was hockey, eating, sleep, repeat). He mentions the team even stayed at hotels during home games to stay focused.
    * The players assumed it was an upper management/HR situation so they assumed it was going to be dealt with by them. That’s why they were surprised the next year when the coaches had a meeting about it. Basically just echoing the players didn’t know much about it nor were they involved in handling it.
    * When he says he wouldn’t have put himself in that situation he’s referring to physically going after the trainer if it was him.

I’m tired of this sub posting garbage like this with a bs headline for karma. The mods should start banning these topics when the OP and comments are taking things so far out of context.

  8. I’m not sure how many of you are surprised, he’s said some very weird stuff about the LGBTQ+ community before and been suspended for it including touching that subject later in the pod…..Shaw has been a POS and kinda known….

  9. One of the last guys on the planet who should be commenting on the Beach situation. And, of course, he victim blames because he’s such an alpha

Hockey really needs a culture shift away from these types of attitudes to ever grow out of the basement

  10. Guys the vast majority of pro athletes are straight up not good people. Theres a reason for the saying “dont meet your heros.” These lads are there for us to enjoy their athletic prowess and nothing more
