Umpire scoreboard for last night. Apparently two of the three most impactful calls benefited us but who cares. This ump was nasty. 83% strike called accuracy.

  1. I dont mind accuracy being a bit lower if they are consistent. 94% consistency is pretty bad.

  2. Honestly, umps have been so bad this year. I dont even care who they are favoring, this is an absolutely atrocious game. Yet this is less than 1% worse than the league average. At no point should some of those balls on either side be called strikes, or that pitch well inside the strike zone be called a ball. Baseball needs better umpiring than this.

  3. Whoever said last night that the strike zone was shaped like North Carolina was wrong.

    This is clearly Ohio.

  4. How does the strike zone work again? Is it set when the ball reaches the plate or when the pitcher throws? I can see how hard it is to keep track of the zone when the batter keeps changing their hitting posture.

  5. It really bothers me that overall accuracy is “average” when strike accuracy is 5% below average. I’m guessing it’s a rounding error, but still annoying.
