Obviously I’m biased but is this not disrespectful to one of the best coaches in recent history?

A man who just brought a team to the playoffs who people were legitimately saying could very well go 0-17 and had a coherent argument to back it up. A man who changed the way teams draft and created from scratch one of the best defenses in league history is below guys like Dabol and McVay?

  1. Let alone the fact that he’s coming off of 2 world class drafts back to back

  2. It’s quite obvious Bill Belichik is #1, it’s not even close…then Reid, then Tomlin…this is so easy

  3. Ross Tucker is an entertainment writer. He is more interested in getting people to try gambling promos than anyone else. Delete him from your life.

  4. I think Payton and Pete should be swapped

But I’d also swap Daboll for Dougie P

  5. Sean Payton at 4 is hilarious. I was thinking “oh maybe it’s only considering recent success” then. I saw Payton, and bellicheck not being #1.

Realized it’s just a stupid person doing a ranking.

  6. Payton, Sirianni, Shanahan, McVay, Daboll have no fucking business being ahead of Pete FUCKING CARROLL

  7. All the coaches on that list and Pete is the only one to have less than 3 losing seasons in his tenure. That’s wild. Most all the other coaches went to the bottom at one point and Pete has kept his head above water the entire time. Toss in the back to back Super Bowl appearances and coaching one of the greatest defenses of all time, Pete should be top 3 at the very least

  8. Let’s see, if Mahomes cops an attitude and demands a trade, and Andy can make the playoffs with Blaine Gabbert, maybe I’d be more likely to buy in here.

  9. What an absolute joke.

I have a power ranking of media members and this guy is at bottom.

  10. The header says this is the 33rd list which leads me this is some combination of last season, this season and lifetime. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

If so Pete should be at least at 6 maybe 3, probably 4 if you allow for some recency bias with Philly.

Certainly Tomlin, Payton, McVey are similar so it’s understandable.

    But Daboll? That’s ridiculous

  11. My only issue is Sean Payton, this ranking should be based off most recent success, Payton should be disqualified.

  12. Daboll and maybe Sean Payton way too high on this list, Dan Campbell probably too low.

I think Pete Carroll and Mike Tomlin shouldn’t be very far from each other, regardless of wherever they settle.

I’m not sure I can get onboard with a ranking that has Pete being the third best coach in the division.

  13. I’ll even put Shanahan in the top 5 ahead of Tomlin an Siriani, and then at 6 Carrol in his scooter.

But I don’t really mind, Carrol is amazing and a ranking is useless for us, time and time again we’ve demonstrated that.

  14. Aren’t power rankings supposed to have a bit of recency bias? Daboll and Sirianni I don’t agree with but I think you could at least make arguments for the rest.

If it was a legacy ranking then I’d have more disagreements

  15. I mean look at everyone ahead of y’all’s guy. Daboll is the only one Pete should probably be in front of but that’s only 1 spot

  16. Honestly, I think it’s fair for Carroll. Yes he outperformed expectations last year and deserves credit for that but he also deserves blame for defensive failures. A lot of their issues on defense were technique related (2-4-5, etc…).

He (or the coaching in general) deserves credit for his success as a culture setter, outperforming expectations, and a good few drafts but by the same token he deaerves blame for post LOB decline in defense

  17. Carroll and Harbaugh disrespected here. I don’t think Daboll and Sirianni have enough longevity yet to be ahead of those guys.
