  1. This sub treated way too harshly his first 3 or so seasons but I feel like the sun has lived him the past few years.

  2. Jimmy went from “will he ever be what we need him to be” (bc of injury and changes in the organization)

To a guy I was sad to lose, he brought a special energy to the defense and I appreciate having watched him play for the niners

  3. Extremely good pro. Didn’t he go through four coaching staffs in four years. All loved him; says something about his professionalism.

  4. ward was a hated pick because he was not graded highly by most. jimmy position change and his having a wider role on the team in the shanahan era really showed how good he was. ward was just a odd type of talent. u dont see players who could legit play nickle, safety and mlb

  5. Both Jimmy’s/ie got as far as they could with the 49ers.
And we got as far as we could with them.
To be fair, I think both players could honestly have more success in different systems, but they reached their ceiling for us. They weren’t going to do any better in the system that we have.

This is not a knock on either player nor the system. It was just as far as they could go, and we could take them as a team.

  6. Losing him feels like a mistake. He was a major leader for the toughest defense in the league, a tone setting player in terms of physicality

I hope we can replace him adequately

  7. He was a top tier safety for us… that’s not defying the odds, that’s getting paid to do what you do best.
