  1. people actually believe that companies actually care about diversity….they are pandering to the the fans who care about that kind of stuff

  2. I had thought about this not too long ago mostly because I recall MLB had some kind of initiative where they were trying to promote more “inner-city” youth to participate – it was around the same time stats started showing the decline in black players at the pro level. This is literally a hypocrisy/contradiction to any of that.

Also curious, no knock on these players, or maybe this happened somewhere and I missed it, still love them. I think it would have been really powerful to have Dontrelle, Jimmy, Rickey, Dave and others (all the home grown Oakland natives) come out and share how participating in babe Ruth/little league and the role the A’s being in Oakland had to do with their success.

    Fuck Fisher.

  3. Funny, because the list of MLB players who grew up in Oakland is a rather diverse and accomplished one.

  4. Oakland leadership is full of lightweights that can’t negotiate . They’ve had years and years and administration after administration not be able to get anything done on a new stadium deal. Now the city is lawless and full of shanty towns and homelessness. Horrible as it sounds I would pack up my team and gtfo too.

  5. When the A’s move to Vegas they’ll become just as bland and mediocre as the Raiders.

Tourists and (if they win) bandwagon fans. Nobody will truly care about this club ever again

  6. The A’s were always there for the poor kids in Oakland to experience a fun live event, a working class team. Fuck you Fisher and Mandfred u fucking thugs

  7. MLB is soulless, we’ve known that since Manfred’s “it’s just a piece of medal” comment. It’s why there’s always threat of lockouts and player union strikes when it’s time to renew. It’s a for profit business monetizing the sport we like using players and fans alike as means to the end.
