Hello everyone and welcome to the live broadcast of the Nevada Senate Committee on Finance and Assembly Committee on Ways and Means meeting on SB509 (The Athletics stadium bill). This meeting is significant as it’s the first step in the team potentially getting $380 million in public funding to build a new ballpark on the Tropicana Las Vegas and relocate to the Las Vegas area. How things will play out are linked to this conference. So without furtherado, let’s watch and see for ourselves.

Yeah they’re trotting out those same horseshit renders completely unedited from the last time we saw them
Only using this because there is a live broadcast in the Nevada Legislature on the proposed ballpark and it’s worth including a link to it on their website.
They are now listing 2028 as the earliest opening date for the ballpark. That’s literally the same timeline that they called “unworkable” in Oakland.
The A’s aren’t even committing to Community Benefits? Las Vegas negotiators are pushovers
Honestly the A’s relying on the Boring Company is a great match since both are scammers

They listed WWE as potentially running events at this stadium… Uh, they’ve already held events at Allegiant. This would be a massive downgrade for them
does WWE sell out Allegiant?

There is some opposition to public funding but let’s be honest most Nevada lawmakers support this for reasons we already know.
Will there be a vote tonight? I can’t get the feed for some reason.
There will probably be a vote at some point on the bill though it could be a special session given that there are only eight days left on the Nevada Legislature.

A lot of these “neutral” callers should be in the calls opposed instead. Speaks volumes of what Las Vegas residents think about the move to LV.
With the hearing coming to a close by 12:00 AM, May 30th, who knows what the Nevada Legislature will do with SB509 next though I suspect they will bring it to a vote in the Senate and Assembly followed by Governor Lombardo signing it into law or a special session similar to the one for the Raiders back in 2016.
And the Nevada Legislature hearing on SB509 has officially ended at 10:22 PM, Memorial Day. With the bill now fully heard in Carson City, the legislature will decide if it should go out of committee and into the Senate and Assembly with a possible special session called by Governor Lombardo to meet the deadline of June 5, 11:59 PM.
