Our ability to identify and then develop talent has been ass since like 2013 to be honest.
I remember a few people questioning Simmons’ willingness to actually put in the time and the vast majority of us laughing that off. He may be one of greatest wastes of talent in NBA history
I don’t think any organization would’ve developed Ben Simmons into the player he was supposed to be.
More like an inability to identify talent generally given the draft capital available during the process years.
The sixers didn’t do anything wrong with Simmons the guy doesn’t have heart and doesn’t like basketball
The Pat Riley effect plays a role though
At least we are consistent.
The Fultz situation was so bizzare. I mean he came into camp shooting like a jack ass. If he was hurt, he fucked up in not going to the org IMMEDIATELY. Instead he got someone in his inner circle to change his motion or something. That’s on him. The rumors of him injuring himself doing something like dirt biking make sense in hindsight.
I honestly don’t even count fultz because of that dumbass motorcycle sht. The moves they made during the process is what smoked them more so than a bad luck pick
The Philadelphia sports top draft 3 picks from 2015 – 2017 is so brutal it’s hard to put into words.
Obvious varying levels of disappointment and reasons to why those players did not succeed, but overall none of those players lasted in Philly for more than five (healthy) seasons!
Sixers didn’t do anything wrong with Simmons. Guy just looks like he was forced into playing basketball.
We also give max contracts to players that can’t compete with the Heats undrafteds.
Caleb Martin and Gabe Vincent are legit a better duo at this point than Fultz and Simmons. Has there ever been a franchise that whiffed on TWO first overall picks? Especially in back to back years!?!? 😭😭😭😭😭
Anyone else happy to see Jimmy Butler make another Finals? And laugh when they realize we kept Ben Stinkons and got rid of Jimmy.
I’m convinced the hack writers come out for hot take season
The first half is true. With Ben and Markelle they actually prove how much of an anomaly the reverse developments are. One went devolving from a two-way stud PG who could score at all levels because of an uncommon injury and the other from a potential perennial All-NBA Swiss Army knife type player of the highest degree. Moral of the story though is that the Sixers don’t give the types of players Miami has chances to play and stick with the team.
