Which is why Philadelphia has begun giving thought as to who could replace the former league MVP. According to league sources close to the organization, Raptors All-Star guard Fred VanVleet has emerged as a potential replacement for Harden this offseason.

  2. This feels like Philly trying to drive down the price on a Harden contract by “leaking” other options.

    Realistically, a FVV/Maxey/Embiid trio is a 2nd round exit at best, and that FVV/Maxey backcourt would get absolutely abused defensively. I just don’t really see the upside in Philly trying to sign FVV instead of Harden. At this point, their best move is to just sign Harden, run it back, and hope the upgrade from Doc to Nurse is enough to get them over the hump.

  3. Watch us pay Harden a 4yr max and then FVV goes to Philly for 30M and wins a title with Embiid

  4. I wonder if the announcement of Nick Nurse as HC is playing a large part in this, with FVV being one of his players at the Raptors.

This is a positive leak as it drives down Harden’s leverage and allows us to place safeguards in structuring his deal such as below max and 2+1 to derisk in a few seasons if the situation does not turn optimal. Ofc, if a baffling move such as a 4/max happens, that would seem careless on our end but I welcome this bit of intel.

  9. They should go get Poole while he’s a depressed asset… Floor spacing/penetration/explosive scoring. Pair him with Maxey and push the pace for early baskets to help the big fella
