D-Lo/FVV stat comparison.

Pretty much the same stats. One thing FVV has going for him is he is a better playoff performer with Championship experience.

But me personally I think we should give D-Lo another chance and build on the chemistry that has been established since February. If he’s a true professional he’s going to come back swinging next season.

And once the playoffs come around I’m sure he’ll redeem himself when it matters. Lakers need to prioritize adding another reliable big.

  1. FVV has had one good series since kawhi left, and it was in 2020 against the Kyrie/kd-less nets.

He’s been riding the “playoff performer” reputation while shooting awfully in almost every series since kawhi left.

FVV>dlo, but for our dlo complaints, FVV is a lateral move at best.

  2. I would prefer to keep D-Lo. He is a good teammate. We simply have to make adjustments in games where he is overly exploited on defense. I feel like if we get another big, his abilities would be even better for the team.

I can’t wait for a season where I don’t have to watch AD hold the five, or watch AD at the four with Drummond there.

  3. Unless it’s a clear upgrade I would keep Dloe he performed in 2/3 series he knows the team vise versa. He’s great at getting AD the ball and is happy taking the back seat if someone is hot. Don’t waste what little resources we have for a slight upgrade.

  4. Lakers won’t ever win a title with D’lo being their starting point guard.

VanVleet may not be the answer but D’lo got ran off the court by Bruce Brown.

  5. VanVleet on his worst day is a far better defender, has a higher basketball iq, a better playmaker and toughness than D’lo. This is an embarrassing comparison.

  6. I believe the Lakers need to retain the talent that got them into the WCF, and that includes DLo. Only the center position remains unsolved, so focus on finding that piece.

  7. I suggest people watch Trevor Lane discuss this. DLo is a better fit for this team unless the plan is to limit Reaves for some reason. This is likely another move to get the ball out of Lebron’s hands for the regular season. FVV is one of the more ball screen dominant players in the league. Reaves DLo is a good pairing. Obviously the Lakers will have to figure out how to deal with Denver, but this doesn’t seem to be it.

  8. If you actually watched a few Toronto games this season. FVV shouldn’t even be considered. He disappeared in the regular season. Atleast DLo waited until the playoffs to go mia.

  9. Fvv was a major piece in a championship

He can be the best 6th man in the nba

  10. Those are head to head stats. We need season comparison stats. This is basically irrelevant.

  11. Go watch DLo’s exit interview. Then watch AD’s (or basically anyone else). That’s why I would happily swap DLo for anyone of similar or even slightly lower standard.

I have no opinion on whether FVV fits that bill.

  12. Can he defend though? That’s always the question regarding dlo. Yes he is decent to good on offense (albeit a bit too inconsistent) but what makes him a liability is his defense.

  13. Regular season DLo is not the main problem here. Is how he chokes in Playoffs when (as a 3rd star) he should raise his game, or at least, keep it the same as the regular season.

  14. This isn’t about the regular season. This is about championships . Although the stats are similar Dlo regresses to the point where he was unplayable as they were better when he was off of the floor. While Fred is a champion and no one would argue they’re better without Fred.

  15. Winning doesn’t always show up on the stats sheet. There are players that put up monster numbers and probably never going to win a round

  16. FVV will knock down all the open threes that Lebron and AD create for him that Dlo couldn’t.

  17. I would encourage anyone deciding between these two players to consider FVV and DLo’s past three years and their RAPTOR ratings.

It’s literally night and day in difference.

FVV is rated as a top 20 player by RAPTOR in the NBA in the last three years.

Before anyone dismisses RAPTOR right away you should look up it’s methodology and figure out why RAPTOR values guys like FVV over guys like DLo.

A lot of fans and analysts laughed at or summarily dismissed RAPTOR for rating Jokic so highly the past three seasons. This playoffs showed that was foolish to do, when Jokic has absolutely shined while guys like Embiid, Giannis, and particularly Jaylen Brown have been exposed this year.

In particular, anyone familiar with JB’s RAPTOR is not surprised by his postseason struggles.

Conversely, anyone familiar with Reaves’s RAPTOR is not surprised by his playoff success.

By no means is RAPTOR the perfect stat nor do I support using it as the sole evaluator but as a whole it is one of many useful tools for evaluating players. And more often than not, it uncovers players who are overrated by reputation or their inflated contracts that do not reflect true value.

  18. FVV 2022 NBA playoffs against the 76ers

Averaged 14 points/6 assists/3 rebounds shooting 35% from the field/33% from 3/85% from the line

Best game that series: 20/7/4 shooting 30/33/50

    Worst game: 5/3/2 shooting 33/33/NA

    2020 playoffs
    Round 1 vs Nets 21/8/4 shooting 53/56/80

    Round 2 vs Celtics 19/6/5 shooting 35/31/87

FVV is a streaky as D’Lo. If he also gets switched onto someone taller like a KD or Jokic, he’s not really going to be disrupting their shot.

  19. D-Lo is very likable but he is a defensive liability, you guys did watch the playoffs right?!

  20. Not much of a fan of another undersized PG although FVV brings more to the table than DLo. If we want a PG who will truly have an impact I feel like getting Kyrie would be huge. Bron can take more rest and AD will eat on PnR. Plus Kyrie can take over games & play defense.

  21. FVV gives me Derek Fisher vibes. Solid bet. Knows how to win. Dependable leader and masters his role while still playing with a chip because of how they’re undervalued.

  22. This doesn’t account for defense and toughness (mental and physical).

Dlo legit has none of it.

  23. FVV is too short, I think. Sucks that it comes down to things over which he has absolutely no control.
