[Bodner] Nick Nurse, on developing a relationship with Joel Embiid: “I think he really competes, and he really wants to be great. It’s a collaborative effort (with your stars)…For me, I just want him to have as much success as possible, and that translate to team success as well.”

  1. > Nurse: “It was the same in Toronto (the 2nd round exits). The reality is that’s the truth. I would imagine, from Day 1, that we’re going to talk about that, and we’re gonna attack that. We’re gonna have to face it, and we’re gonna rise above it.”

    > Nick Nurse: “James [Harden] has a decision to make, and I’d be very happy if he came back.”

    > Nick Nurse, on Tyrese Maxey: “Just the sheer speed and quickness that he has, it was tough to game plan against him. Sometimes you just can’t beat the speed…It wasn’t just speed and layups, then he started shooting the ball really well.”

    > Nurse, on Maxey: “He’s got a tremendous chance to improve and take a step forward, and from all indications he’s really hungry to do so.”

    >Nurse said that a goal is to make Maxey more of a creator, and put him in more pick-and-rolls to do so.

  2. Honestly Jojo is a big bitch and that should be agenda 1 is to correct any play off concerns before they happen.

Love Philly with all my heart but are we holding onto a guy who won’t give 110% to close out a post season gmae

  3. Between Phoenix and us, I don’t think Nurse had many great options to chose from. Phoenix is the new Brooklyn with a mismatch of stars, some of whom are over the hill.

Unless Morey has some magic rabbit up his sleeve, I’m still not seeing this as a very attractive situation going forward.

  4. “He really competes” – Nick must’ve not watched game 7 against the Celtics or game 5 and 6 against the Heat last year.

  5. Really dont matter.

Embiid conditioning is miles behind someone like Joker.

Joker inbounds a ball and gets to the other end before the carrier, calls for it and sets up the offense or he leads the break.

Embiid is constantly the last guy down the court and disappears into his standing mode in deep mid range when late in his minutes.

  6. Jesus you guys are insufferable. It’s nice to have an actual coach who is clever and schemes up things to take advantage of. Its not Joel Embiids fault the only 2 coaches he’s had in the league are Brett Brown, who hasn’t been a head coach since, and chokejob doc rivers

  7. I’ve lost all faith in Embiid tbh, I’m surprised Nurse came here. At this point I’m just counting the seasons until the rebuild. I’ll watch from a far next year until the second round but I have a feeling ill just get let down again (assuming we even make it to the 2nd round).
