Why doesn’t the mavs FO consider Pablo Laso as an assitant coach?

This seems like a very logical decision to make imo, even if there are obvious risks like him not having coached in the nba before.

I think that Luka would benefit from having someone that will keep him in check and will not be scared to call him out during games, especially if that person is the one who made him play off ball with Real and also knows him incredibly well. He would also not allow one second of whining to the refs during play, which I´m sure the current staff dislikes yet they simply do not have the balls to bench him for it.

[Here is a clip where he speaks about the Mavs playing style.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIlhzxxoItA)

It’s in Spanish but he basically talks about how he doesn’t believe in “one man basketball” and how Luka is clearly able to play as a team as evidenced when the Slovenian nationl team won the EuroBasket whilst playing “beautiful basketball”.

  1. Pablo Laso isn’t a real coach. He’s a character played by Jason Sudeikis.

  2. Laso left Real’s HC role due to a heart condition. I quite doubt either that he would want to make a move to the NBA or that the Mavs would take the risk of bringing the guy overseas only for him to have a heart attack on court. If his heart is better, he would probably just resume his role within Real Madrid.
