  1. It’s got to be really tough for him. I wish him well just the same. The guy has had a tough career so far.

  2. I hated him for leaving, but damn I just feel terrible watching the pain in his voice, wish him nothing but a speedy recovery

    Video really hard to watch

  3. Fucking sucks dude. Whatever transpired in the offseason. Sucks to see an amazing talent not be able to compete.

  4. I was not happy when he left . Not towards the Mets but towards Jake. I guess he didn’t want to be here and that hurt.

Watching this was hard. I hope he retires a met

  5. :,( this man is traumatized and loves the game so deeply. People seem quick to say “I told you so” here but this is truly heartbreaking. I’m just happy that I was able to become a Mets fan in 2018 and see some of his greatest years. This sucks so much.

  6. I’m really stunned seeing Jake like this. I always got the sense that he didn’t have that proverbial “dog” in him. He just came across to me like a guy who was crazy talented but it wasn’t that important to him. I just never thought he cared that much, but seeing like this is heartbreaking. I really feel for him.

  7. It’s hard sometimes to relate because they’re ball players and they make millions of dollars while so many people struggle, but, watching this, it’s like at the end of the day, he’s just a guy that’s being told he can’t do the thing that he loves the most and that he may never be able to do it at the same level again. It’s heartbreaking. I pray that he’s able to come back better than ever. Only wish he was coming back to do it with us.

  8. God I hate to see this. Always will love Jake DeGoat as one of my favorite players ever. Hated that he left but not like the Mets made it hard to leave. I did not want to see him light the world on fire in TX but felt that he deserved an opportunity to finish his career on a good note and maybe get 1 more CY to cement his legacy in the game despite the injuries and time missed

  9. Man……that was tough to watch. I watched this guy dominate for years and even go through a tough phase where he needed a pep talk from Terry Collins. This one stings to see him like that.

  10. This hurts. I like jake. ( it’s downgraded from absolute love since he left). He has god like power trapped in a fragile human body.

Is this the end for him? Can he come back from this?

  11. Crushing.

This has been my flair for years. I don’t know how to change it on mobile and I never use Reddit on my laptop. He’s my latest Mets jersey and I’d still wear a 48 DeGrom to a game.

The news hurt to hear but this clip was especially sad. I wonder if the 5 year contract factors into any decision to get it done now. Hoping that he can be productive in the second half of the contract.

  12. Jake deGrom- 2025 Cy Young winner. No World Series cuz that’ll be the tail end of the 3-peat for the Mets.

  13. This will probably cost him a trip to the hall of fame, he is basically like David Wright now.

  14. I’ve been wearing my 48 jersey all day. Stevie said it best, he was an amazing sight to behold on the mound. This *was* hard to watch.

  15. What are the odds of a pitcher coming back and being effective after TJ #2? Look at Stephen Strasbourg who was as gifted as any pitcher in baseball. His career is toast.
