Jarmo said Tues the #CBJ will look for more veteran D help. This would be a trade w/negotiating a contract extension in mind. Thought maybe they’d go for another #NJDevils 28-yr old pending UFA D in Graves, but he’s a lefty. Severson’s a RHD and would pair nicely with Provorov.

  1. I think Jarmo is sending the message that he wants to win now… looking forward to see what other trades we make

  2. Per Friedman on 32 thoughts we were in on Severson before getting Provorov, and he also mentioned that we may be interested in Orlov if he hits free agency

  3. I’m not sure that we need a RHD. Guddy isn’t going anywhere, Jiricek looks like he will lock down a spot either this year or next, Boqvist has impressed me and should have a spot, Blanks is a great depth piece, and Peeke has been a solid PK minute eater. You’re looking at trading at least one of these guys out, and honestly I’d rather let Peeke, Boqvist, or Blanks develop and get better than trade them for some win-now veteran.

  4. I guessing this isn’t a good sign for Peeke or Boqvist, unless Jarmo has some magic up his sleeve to get rid of Gudbranson after just 1 year. Our defense was so bad last season that I’m open to pretty much anything that will improve it, but I don’t want someone to stand in Jiricek’s way. He is the future 1RD that we need.

  5. I don’t see NJ giving up severson. Unless we overpay. Which we shouldn’t.

  6. Everyone thinking Jiricek is a lock for the opening day squad need to wake up IMO. He didn’t look great in the limited time we saw him play on the main squad. I can easily see him start the season in Cleveland and only come down if he starts killing it up there a ton or we get injured in the right side. He was also injured at the end of the season for Cleveland and I think his health may be a worry. Rushing him into the main squad could end up going VERY horribly. He had a very bad injury the year before we drafted him where people were worried about his longevity and that may have been the reason he fell to us in the draft. Keeping him in Cleveland for at least a half a year seems like the play to make.
