  1. Would be good if he was cheap , as much as a am not a huge fan of CP3 can’t doubt he will be a great mentor and brings a lot of experience

  2. I would be down, perfect fit on the team and now we could get him on a better deal. Not sure if he would want to come here though. Probably wants a ring and will sign with a contender

  3. If it was unlikely before I think this completely takes it off the table for us. Why sign with us when there are contenders that can use him.

  4. The dude has created a toxic whiny locker room culture everywhere he’s gone. Hard pass.

  5. I would love to see CP3 here. He’s a very competitive veteran and would be a great mentor for our young guys. This team needs a guy like him.

  6. He wouldn’t sign with the spurs for even a max contract. He has options now and wants to win a ring

  7. After seeing how CP3 mentor SGA and helped him into an all NBA star, it is a no brainer to sign him

  8. Why do people want him here? Why is everyone obsessed with the Spurs making dumbass moves??

  9. This looks like an L GM job by the Suns. They really couldn’t find a trade partner for CP3? They have until June 28th to waive CP3 why making decision now? They really need role-players to help Book and KD. They could have possibly flipped CP3 for Furkan Korkmaz and Jalen McDenial or something. Instead they’re letting him go for nothing and taking $15.8m cap hit.

  10. Bloody hell, Shams/Woj got boomed.

To be honest…I don’t know. The Suns are cutting him loose and obligated to eat the rest of his salary. No one is going to claim him off waivers on that monstrosity. I have to admit, playing CP3 while PHX is paying for him would be absolutely delicious.

They are doing him dirty. They were garbage until he showed up (hell, until he and Monty showed up) and even with Booker lighting it up, they had no idea how to win basketball games. Its no accident they were in line to select Luka (and shit the bed by taking Ayton instead). That said, when you push your way to a super-duper max contract coupled with escalating health issues that makes you passed around like the a Kardashian with NBA players…something has to give. The NBA is cut throat.

So…the real question is – besides A.) does he want to come here or is he last gasp trying to latch on to a contender. and B.) Do the Spurs really want to add Point God at 97 years old and having just sat out his team getting its ass whupped in the playoffs – is: *how much will this actually cost the Spurs?*

Now, considering he’s 38 and the Suns are picking up the tab for this season, ostensibly someone will offer him a chunk of cash to play one season at a time. Is he the missing piece for a number of teams?

Back to the Clippers on the MLE? If the stars align and all 3 of PG13/ K. Leonard, and CP3 can muster one reasonably healthy season and be all in and healthy for the playoffs, that’s some scary shit.

Depending on what Kyrie does, could Dallas take a swing? If they retain Kyrie and use the #10 to acquire a big or a wing, THEY could be back in it by adding CP3.

I mean, putting myself in CP3’s mind set, those might seem more appealing than being a baby sitter. That said, he was just quoted yesterday about his failure to win a ring in regards to little shits at his kid’s school talking trash about it. Does it mean he saw this coming and has decided to go find some place to finish out his career where he can enjoy the game without the bullshit and the pressure?

I am really torn on this one. I could see paying him …whatever he asks for on a 1+1 contract (the LeBron special but TEAM option) We have cap space to burn and people on this sub have listed out the benefits of signing Point God for his twilight to mentor the kids (Victor in particular but everyone else too)

Part of me believes introducing an all NBA player into the mix, albeit no longer reliably at that level, is too far off script and introduces significant chaos into the equation. If you add CP3, maybe they load manage the crap out of him and Pop coaches his ass off and we claw our way into the bottom of the playoff bracket….that would be cool, but CP3 is gonna retire very soon. Its not like Pop who can sit there and be grouchy indefinitely, he will be done-done very soon, and we’ll have to sort that out. I could see it turned into a positive, though…

Or…you could sign him to a short term deal and he could simply never be right physically. Sure, the Spurs have cap space to burn and we don’t lose anything from it (except the ownership group’s money) but it will be a constant distraction. Granted, it was much worse last time, but the “will he or won’t he play” nonsense – we’ve been there before. Although, I think CP3 would play if his body would allow it, with that other asshole…

At the end of the day: Maybe. I think the first hurdle to get over is “does he actually want to sign here?” I mean…he is owed on his contract and he has a certain skill set. PHX is paying him so he *should* cost less. If he decides he wants to play here, we can talk, but he can latch on to any team he wants at this point.

  11. Chris Paul fits the Spurs’ situation – he offers many valuable things while using only one roster slot, and it is pointless to complain about money for the next three years.

  12. We’d have to go in win now mode if we did that. That would mean seeing a bunch of trades happen quickly and I’m not sure Brian built like that
