  1. Clutch is a made up stat that sounds important but has zero predictive value. It tells you how unlucky a team or player was over the year.

    For example, Wilmer Flores led the league in clutch last year with 2.46, next closest player was Andres Gimenez with 2.07. So Wilmer is way more clutch than anyone right? Over 1000 games in his career his overall clutch rating is -1.96 and he’s only had one other year that was even slightly positive.

    All this says is that the Cubs have been unlucky. We’re batting .254 with RISP and .240 with bases empty.

  2. Maybe it’s that stupid twist hand gesture after they get a hit. Need a new salute
