Kobe hit this buzzer beater to send it into overtime. I always wondered, if the series format was how it is now, do we end up winning this series or push it more than just 5 games?
I think so because game 5 would’ve been at Staples. That 2-3-2 format back then was brutal. Almost didn’t matter if a team had home court advantage.

One of the saddest playoff runs for me, personally, negating Derek’s 0.4, Kobe’s buzzer, Karl’s ring (I liked him AT THE TIME, now he’s just a redneck bumpkin who preys on younger women), Gary Payton’s first ring… and they basically got swept if it weren’t for this shot. Embarassing.
At least the Pistons made it back the following year and gave the Spurs a tough series, but at that time Larry Brown was already out the door.
Kobe’s insistence on chucking instead of passing to Shaq that series cost us a ring
