With the news today about the Middleton’s surgery, I realized I never saw him play to his full potential (wasn’t a serious NBA fan prior to 2021) so I decided to check out his clutch shots (5 mins left in the game and at moist 5 point difference) in the 2021 playoffs, and his reputation as a clutch shot maker is truly real. He hit 13 clutch shots with 5 of them coming in the finals, with 3 coming in game 5 and 2 coming in game 6.
He averaged 24/8/5 on 44/45/89 in 20-21, and this year he averaged 24/6/6 on 47/40/88, so the stats are pretty identical. If he was doing this kind of production with some knee problems he will hopefully improve next season (and return to his defensive self).
Also 31 years is not too late. At 31 MJ was getting bounced in the 2nd round and then won 3 titles in a row. We’re probably stuck with Khris so might as well be optimistic.
A coach with a new ideology, a repaired knee, and wonders can happen.
