I’ve always liked Hellebuyck – thought he had the potential to be one of those defining goaltenders that could anchor a deep playoff run. That’s my gut talking over my head perhaps.

What do you think? Stats-wise he’s an upgrade over Mrazek. Bigger, almost the same age. Maybe not worth it considering where the team is currently at? Probably not a playoff run in the next few seasons. What would you give up for him? Mrazek 1-for-1?

I’m a noob when it comes to front office/cap/draft compensation, etc. so please don’t flame me if this comes off as naive. Just wanted to start some convo and Connor’s a personal favorite I’ve always kept an eye on. Go Hawks!

  1. Hellebuyck has specifically said in the past year he doesn’t want to be apart of a rebuild, so he’s not coming here.

    You very well might get flamed because Mrazek for Hellebuyck 1 for 1 is a massive insult to Winnipeg and Helle. Mrazek is steaming hot flaming garbage in comparison so a realistic trade would probably be either multiple firsts or a 1st, A prospect, roaster player for Hellebuyck. He’s one of the best goalies in the league on a super confusing team that always chokes or has a cancerous locker environment. He probably has so much more to give/show so teams will have to pay a premium for him in his prime.

  2. Man all I gotta say on any of these proposed trade or signing threads is signing or trading for anyone with more then 2 years term would be fucking stupid. Especially if it’s for >5 mil.

    Suck cock this year with what we got and see if some younger guys can make the jump to the NHL. After that start exploring more pieces with longer term and $. Cap will shoot up over the next 5 years.

    If I see another person say get fucking Debrincat I’ll shoot myself. Debrincat was a product of Patrick Kane being an elite passer. Cat is going to want like 8 X 8.

    All in all we should do fuck all this off-season besides maybe signing Domi. Just be patient here people. We have good prospects. This UFA market is trash. Maybe bundle the seconds for a first (vancouvers) and take on a couple shit contracts.
