1993 Chiefs vs Oilers Playoffs

I found myself watching this classic playoff win yesterday and thought I would share.

Joe Montana and Marcus Allen, Neil Smith and Derrick Thomas (R.I.P.) with the chiefs vs
Warren Moon and the Houston Oilers.

Kansas City was electric that year, and it was unimaginable at the time to think that it would be the last playoff win for over 20 years! 😢

I completely forgot that TE Keith Cash spiked the football into a poster of Oilers defensive coordinator Buddy Ryan’s face after the Chiefs first touchdown. Busted out laughing at that all over again.

  1. This is the first game that I truly remember ever watching. Was 8 year old! Lol. Good memories

  2. Remember it well. I was at the previous week improbable come from behind win against the Steelers in Arrowhead.

In retrospect, it was like being allowed to open the door to see what life with a really good quarterback could be like and the difference it could make in the post season.

Only to have that door cruelly slammed in ones face for another 25 years.

  3. This was my 2nd year as a football/Chiefs fan. The win over Pittsburgh the week before and this game were glorious. Montana’s elbow looked gross as shit!

  4. It was sweet revenge for the 30-0 beatdown the Oilers put on us in Week 2 that year, when Montana went out early with the ruptured bursa sac. The playoff game looked like it was going to be a repeat of the regular season game (at least score wise), as we were both losing & shut out at the half. Montana, Allen & the defense came alive in the second half, which included the Keith Cash spiking of the football into the Buddy Ryan banner.
