  1. I love the dude but at this point his entire career has been trying to keep him healthy enough to get him back to his one great, full season 4 years ago. He’s only a year younger than Hopkins, with much less production, and many more injuries. And depending on how close O’Brien is sticking to his offense from Houston, DHop might actually be just as, if not more, familiar with the offense than any of the WR’s already on the roster.

Parker gives all the effort in the world, but when a guy like Hopkins becomes available for a reasonable price, you have to at least put a serious offer out. I’d rather a guy that doesn’t exactly fit who will show up healthy on game day and perform in the big moment than a guy who stands out at OTAs but is hurt by week 3.

  2. I kinda hope we can keep both. I understand they are similar players but he’s really talented and playing with DHop might even open him up a bit.

  3. it would be nice to get Dhop but i think the recieiving group will be ok without him if he doesn’t end up signing. Having a competent coordinator makes them all at least 10% better by default

  4. His cap hit is only 6 million, so I’d argue that he should stay with the team no matter what. Let’s assume the Patriots sign Hopkins (although I think it won’t happen because I’m a pessimist), that leaves them with Hopkins, JuJu, Thornton, Bourne, Parker, Boutte, and Davis as their 7 potential wide receivers.

There’s no guarantee that Boutte or Davis will be NFL caliber players, let alone starters, and you generally want 5 wide receivers who can suit up and catch passes (meaning Slater doesn’t count lol).

Acquiring Hopkins would instantly turn the Patriots skill positions into a strength of the team for the first time in like 6-7 years.

Keeping Parker allows you to minimize the amount of wear and tear to Hopkins over the course of a season. Hell, it might even result in Parker being healthy for a full season.
