The Tigers claimed 18 players off waivers under Al Avila. They’ve claimed 13 under Scott Harris.

With the bare cupboard that AA left, Harris has to try anybody and everyone.
I don’t really think this is a good thing. It’s just a sign of awful depth in the organization. Maybe extra tinkering. You’re just swapping poor players for poor players most of the time.
Turning over the entire system. Sadly it needed to be done
This was how the Giants did things
It’s at least activity if not yet results
I knew it, all these years of just awful baseball and I’m looking at the sky saying “why is he doing nothing”. Like we suck but you’re telling me there isn’t a waiver player to at least try?! And now it makes sense. Al just wouldn’t do it. Regardless if we’re just adding trash it tells me that Scott acknowledges how thin and awful the organization is top to bottom and is actively trying to pick through the scraps to add something mid season instead of throwing up his hands and shrugging like Al did for 5 years. When you’re one of the worst teams in baseball, you’re gonna have to pick other teams scraps fellas
Part of this is the injuries this year to the organization. A couple times they announced a player was going on a longer term injury list and then very quickly filled the roster spot with a waiver or trade for cash.
