Honest question, bc I haven’t seen this in here… do yall love John Sadak as much as I do? Or am I riding too high on Reds momentum?

  1. i’m gonna be really disappointed if there are ppl that dislike this man. we dealt with crotchety old father and son for decades and now we have an actual fan in the booth. hes one of us. he’s the best!

  2. I appreciate how in earnest he is. Just a big happy, witty, baseball nerd. Stays enthused, seems like he really appreciates that he’s got such a great job. A real breath of fresh air when compared with the last guy.

  3. Overall I like him a lot. I don’t want to come across as ungrateful. But sometimes he can be pretty cringe, and he can bang on about stuff too long.

  4. I don’t know how anyone can hate this man after the, “THAT BALL HAD A FAMILY,” call on Elly’s homer. Truly one of the best calls I’ve ever heard

  5. I fucking love him. He’s a meme-ing nerd with infectious enthusiasm and energy. And I love how emotional he gets about the team. Like how he almost cried talking about Will Benson’s struggles after he hit that walk off. He’s such a good dude and is such a great change of pace from the constant downer and shit talker that tHom was

  6. God designed John to call baseball games for the Cincinnati Reds. His passion, his hunger, his joy that he brings to each game is at a maximum. If everyone approached their job/career the way John approaches Reds baseball games then the world would be a much better place than it already is.

  7. I actually usually listen to the other teams broadcasts on MLB.tv because he gets too hammy and over the top cheering for the Reds. Nothing against the guy just my personal preference

  8. I feel like he caught a lot of hate early on for being too nerdy/corny. I’ve loved it all along. He’s whimsical and creative and joyful which is such a refreshing change of pace.

  9. He’s great when he’s not with Larkin. With Larkin I can’t stand him, and it’s all Barry’s fault.

  10. I love him. Welsh and Cowboy are still better, but Sadak is MUCH better than Thom ever was

  11. I literally have nothing negative to say about him. He’s perfect. I’ve heard his NFL radio broadcasts too and he seems solid at that as well

  12. I love him. I think he and Chris Welsh make the best team. Really enjoy listening to them.

  13. I love the guy. His energy is fantastic and you can feel his enthusiasm. Even if he’s not perfect, he’s a great broadcaster. Much better than Thom in every way too

  14. He was 1 of the few things that made me tune in last year during our 100 loss season, so yeah. They absolutely hit it outta the park hiring him after firing tHom.

  15. I love John, his cadence is fantastic and he truly immerses himself into our history and literally carries the broadcast when Lark is on.

  16. We’ve talked about this before. His references are right in the stereotypical redditor’s wheelhouse. Of course people on here love him. If you polled the general public you’d hear that he’s fine, and that’s my opinion as well.

  17. My only real disappointment with the Reds announcers is that I want to LOVE Larkin and I……………….just don’t. He was my favorite player growing up – we went to his Cooperstown induction, I should be predisposed to be thrilled that he’s an announcer and we get to hear him constantly. But I think he’s just not good at this (imo).

  18. Was initially skeptical when he originally came on board but I’ve grown to be a fan of his. His game calling is great and I love his interaction with Chris Welsh & Jeff Brantley. Those three play well together.

Sadak tries so hard to drag Larkin to an acceptable level but I think it may be impossible.

  19. I do love John. Can I also take a moment to appreciate Tommy on the radio? He’s excellent as well. Our announcing crews are moving in the same direction as our team; new, exciting, energetic, and happy to be here. Can’t beat that.

  20. I mean damn! Make Sadak and Welsh the everyday crew!

They really feed off of each other very well.

Welsh has the best chemistry with Sadak. Make Larkin take on away game responsibility.

  21. I’ve enjoyed having him and like him so much more than Thom haha. I get some, not all, of the Barry dislike but Mr Sadak has kept me watching games we clearly weren’t going to win this year.

  22. I love Sadak. I don’t even think he’s that great of an announcer, but he has good chemistry with everyone in the booth, seems to be BFFs with Jim Day, and dare I say, seems to be the captain of the ship as far as the broadcast team goes. A good hearted goofball that gets along with everyone.

Like, I could see the announcers hanging out in Sadaks room on the road and drinking booze after a game. Or even a bloody Mary before a game.

  23. I’ll be honest, I was not a huge fan at the start, but this man has won me over. I love the energy he brings to the broadcast!

  24. Glad I have YouTube TV and don’t get tv broadcast of the games purely because of this guy and Larkin.

I will definitely get down voted but that’s ok. I still believe Votto belongs on this team in some capacity as well when he’s ready…

  25. He is very good. So much more life than tHom. Such a gift he gave us by being a bigot on live TV.

  26. I think he’s okay. He does a good job overall, but I’d much rather listen to cowboy. I usually play the radio feed while watching.

  27. We have an amazing broadcast group all around. From Bally to radio. Sadak is awesome, I’m glad he’s here and I hope he stays.

  28. I told myself I’d love whoever replaces tHom because I couldn’t stand him. That doesn’t matter though because Sadak is amazing!

Thank you so much for your sacrifice tHom! I hope we never lose Sadak!

  29. He is the perfect mix of voice, enthusiasm, obscure vocabulary, random bits of knowledge, and nerd!

  30. Nah Sadak is awesome. I watch other teams’ broadcasts and I always get bored now. He actually gets excited when the reds do something cool and he knows how to convey it without just yelling louder.

  31. Love his relentless positivity about this team. We are experiencing a magnified and unexpected joy this season and he is giving that joy a voice.
