Maldonado has the 5th Worst Career Batting AVG in MLB History

Just in case anyone is curious –

With a career .206 avg, our starting catcher currently holds the 5th worst BA of all time (min 3000 PA).

The legendary pitcher, Cy Young had a better career avg at .210 over 3100 PA

  1. Amazing that this is acceptable for fans on this sub. The fifth worst in History!!!

  2. “But he’s not in there for his offense it’s because the pitchers love him and he does all the research before every series🤓”

  3. I’m not an Astros fan. I’m a Phillies fan who happens to have the over on the Astros this year. Haven’t made a single comment yet on this sub. But I can’t take it anymore. He isn’t even a major league player! -0.8 FWAR on the season! He isn’t even in the top 30 in DRS and has been worth negative runs on defense. You can say he manages the pitching staff…… but managing and coaching is what managers and coaches do. If he’s so good at managing the pitching staff and calling the game have him come up with the gameplan and call pitches from the bench. But to have someone who is as close as it comes in the major leagues to being an automatic out and continue to defend him with arguments you can’t measure is idiotic. Just because the commentators on SNB can’t stop talking about how great he is doesn’t mean you can’t put critical, independent thought into the situation. For a team that needs offense with a ready replacement who is having a much better season, playing Maldonado every day is doing nothing but hurting the team.
