[Hazel Mae] What needs to happen to snap out of this offensive funk: “.. string together a couple of hits w/guys on – whether it’s getting a guy in from 3rd with less than 2 or, getting a couple of hits in a row like we did in Texas. Sooner or later you got to hit a home run.” – Schneider

  1. Stringing together singles is easier said than done against good pitching, hitting a homer or two still wins ball games, that’s why Vladdy’s loss of power this season has really hurt this team despite having 40+ rbis.

  2. Can we bring back the HR jacket? I know it’s a prop, but it can’t hurt with team moral can it? Remember how proud and driven the guys were to get to put that thing on??

  3. I have to preface this by saying, I’m a Schneider fan. I’m from Vancouver and am thrilled to see a Canadians coach make it to the big leagues.

With that being said, I feel that John has lost the plot. The narrative he has come in with is to be the hard coach – no more fun & games – have to get the back-to-basics stuff right. Quotes like the above are speaking to impending luck. A coach shouldn’t be hoping for some luck.

Unfortunately, I think Schneider’s presence has hurt the culture of this team. I can’t put my finger on what exactly is wrong, but there is something very off about the Blue Jays. They are not functioning as a team. Players seem to be frustrated. Successes are rarely celebrated.

Everyone always says the seasons is a long haul. Take the fun out of it and I can’t imagine players wanting to be on this ride much longer.
