Jazz Looking to Trade Up to Pick 5 or 7

According to Yahoo Sports, the Jazz have spoken with the Pistons and the Pacers about trading up to picks 5 or 7 respectively.

**Rumored Trade Details:**

The jazz are looking to bundle picks 9 & 16 to move up to 5. Collin Sexton was also linked with either the 16 or the 28th pick to move up to 7 with Indiana.

This source states they’re looking at aiming for Anthony Black. Here’s some info on him:

**Anthony Black**

6’6″ 210 lb. Combo Guard from Arkansas

32 Games Played 11.7 ppg/ 3.7 rpg/4.3 apg

44.6% fg% / 30.1 3pt% / 75.7 ft%

**Strengths:** Great locker room presence. Solid defender bot in and out. Good size and athleticism. High defensive Basketball IQ.

**Weaknesses:** Poor jump shot, not a great 3 point shooter. Hesitant on the perimeter. Slower than other Point Guards in the draft.

6’7″ 245lb Power Forward from Houston

36 Games Played 11.2 ppg / 6.8 rpg / 1.8 apg

46.5 fg% / 34.7 3pt% / 66.3 ft%

**Strengths:** Incredibly strong with a great defensive mind. Is able to guard the low post with high efficiency. Working on expanding his offensive game

**Weaknesses:** Built like a center, but only 6’7″. Seems oddly timid on the offensive end. Doesn’t finish extremely well

  2. This is the first time I’ve heard of this. I think trading up to 5 is a bit much, but if we REALLY want Black I think we just need to get ahead of Washington… so 7 would make sense.

    I would much rather let the draft play out. If Black gets taken at 8, there will certainly be ONE of Whitmore, Ausar, Walker, or Hendricks available at our pick. I value those guys higher than Black. If we are so insistent on drafting a guard in that range, I’d rather sit back and take Wallace or Bufkin. IMO, Black isn’t in a tier above those guards and not worth trading up for.

  3. pacers fan here, how would y’all feel about 7 + 26 + 29 for 9 + 16?

    it’s one of the first deals I’ve seen that would make sense for us, all depends on how bad your office wants Black

  4. Moving up to 5 to me only makes sense if we pick Walker. We have great chances of getting a good guard with pick 16.
    A forward like him is who you give up assets for

  5. I feel like every team is smoke screening, and it’s impossible to know what to believe before Thursday.

    Moving up to 5 to get Black would be depressing though.

  9. This reaks of Indiana floating this rumor to try and build value for their pick at 7. Jazz have nothing to gain by putting this out there.

  11. Black is a very interesting prospect with his height, length, and athleticism running the point. If it’s true that we really want him then it tells us all that Danny thinks he can develop into a reliable shooter.
