Hunter trade

Hunter trade

  1. If we can get him for like 2 role players and a 2, I’d be really down. IDK if they’d want Okoro with the wing depth they already have, but I think it’s definitely worth exploring

  2. Keep in mind the reason this trade would be so low is the new CBA.

Hunter is on a massive contract for his role.

They are already paying John Collins and Tray, and they’ll need to have some flexibility if they really are interested in extending Murray.

Atlanta is in a pretty rough situation and it’s not really being talked about for some reason

  3. That contract is rough though. Would need to somehow fit him into the Caris salary slot plus dump additional salary.

  4. His contract is pretty terrible for his production. I’m not seeing a feasible way to bring him over that doesn’t involve losing Levert somehow. Not sure he’s much better than levert tbh. If we lose Levert we have zero ball handling off the bench other than the corpse of rubio

  5. Dude is a flawless fit it he can stay healthy. Right age, right shape, right size, good versatile defender, good shooter, plays well off ball and some ability to create for himself. If you’re going to invest so much in trading for Mitchell, these are the moves you need to be willing to make, if they fall in to your lap. If you could get him for Levert or Okoro and the hawks are basically just dumping the contract, it’s an opportunity for the Cavs. I doubt that gets him, but if Gilbert isn’t willing to spend, Altman made a huge mistake.

  6. I’m cool.

Levert @ 15 and Hunter @ 22. That’s too much and no room for a MLE guy this year.

If Bruce Brown is available for 3/36 that destroys the value of Hunter 4/90. Even a Strus 3/30 is better than Hunter at 22 million per season to play 50 games tops. Grant Williams as well.

His knees are bad. It seems systematic. We are slated to basically win 50 games a season at minimum for the next 5 years at least. The only way we can mess that up is injuries or trading for injuries.

His also a lot more stiff than you would think. He is naturally defensively oriented but his defense isn’t as good anymore. Plus he is more of a small ball 4 now than a 3.

The other issue is that he’s not really better than Levert. He has more upside, size and youth but on court he isn’t gonna be better than Levert ove the next 2 years or so. So for me Levert 3/45 is better than Hunter 4/90.

Plus he is the perfect make 3 aesthetically. But we need our 3 to guard the best perimeter player on the opposing team in order to semi hide DG and DM on defense. That’s why we get wild ideas like Cedi guarding Brunson when Okoro is out the game.

  7. Hunter isn’t better than Caleb Martin and he was had for 3/21 last year. That’s 3 years at less than AAV of 1 year of Hunter.
