I liked this article. I used to be only Crews but after seeing Skenes pitch I’d be fine with either. Then with Langford I’d still be somewhat bummed but ok with it. Taking one of the high school kids will officially turn me against Cherington
I’m personally team Crews, but if we took Skenes I wouldn’t be surprised nor upset. If they go with Langford, I’d hope it was a scouting/player development decision that they view longer term success with him over the other two. However, if the Pirates select anyone other than 1 of those three, burn the whole place down.
I am all in a Crews. I worry about the toll that college coaches put their pitchers through. I mean I get it, Coach has to worry about wins, not getting hot shot pitcher to the next level.
I cringe watching some of these pitch counts during the College World Series.
The article makes a really strong case for Skenes.
Pirates should draft Skenes and turn him into a position player to reverse the John Van Benschoten curse
Im no scout but Skenes delivery looks easy so maybe he avoids tj.
The article had one line that would make Skenes a must pick. They said he was already better than Keller. Whose easily a top 10 mlb pitcher. If that were true (it’s not) then you take him.
I assume the pick will be Crews. Pitcher get hurt too much.
I’d be happy with either crews or Skenes, as long as they don’t go with max Clark who has been rumored. I’m not worried about Skenes, he’s an absolutely horse and uses his legs for his power in his delivery. Also Skenes has thrown over 100 innings less than Gerrit Cole did at this point in his career and no one worried about workload when we drafted him.
