[Buffalo Bills PR] Beane and McDermott extended through 2027

  1. That’s now five more years where I don’t have to have Terry Pegula lead a Head Coach job search. I’m fine with that.

  2. Shutdown all the “hot seat” talk before the season starts, honestly smart move to kill the narrative.

  3. How do you not even wait until after this next season to extend McDermott ? This makes absolutely no sense.

  4. Love this move so much. Keep the foundation stable and the org on the same path. We are so close it will come soon.

  5. The first thing I saw and Twitter were fans from other teams in the division celebrating this as if McDermott and Beane haven’t dominated the division since they got here.

  6. Interesting tidbit. If a HC/QB combo don’t win a Super Bowl within 5 years of being together they never have in NFL history.

  7. There is just simply no reason to do this. We can extend him anytime we want, no one is coming in and poaching him, if he feels insecure about his contract he can earn it with a great season and more preferably, great postseason.

  8. This national narrative is the dumbest thing ever. They’re really grasping for things here and they won’t get the satisfaction of a “told you so”, becuase it’s non-factual speculation and they don’t know shit. Now that being said, here’s my speculation from what I’ve heard. It’s not a coaching issue, and I think it boils down to Diggs aggravation with Allen not being all in amidst his relationship issues late last season and up to that Bengals playoff game. He’s an all in guy after that first snap of week 1, and if he feels someone else around him is not 110% focused on football and giving it all like he is then he will call you out. After that blowout, Allen never really showed him he was all in and let his off-field issues interfere with himself and therefore, the team. I think they talked at some point but then the leaks of Allen/Steinfeld come out and Diggs feels like “here we go again” and I think this is where the football, but also non football explanation Allen gave makes a lot more sense. Diggs just needed to know his focus is all on a Super Bowl, and not allowing any outside bullshit to show up on the field. That’s really all there is to it.

  9. Simultaneousy happy and worried with this move. Extending the 2nd best HC the Bills have had since the 80’s and one of the better GMs in the league should be reassuring, but I just can’t shake the feeling this can’t end well. I don’t know, maybe i’m just still not right from last season, but the way this team consistently sputters out come playoff time, i’m starting to wonder about McDermott. Regular Season success is fine and dandy, but we haven’t been able to do much of anything in the playoffs past the Wildcard round outside of the Baltimore Game in 2020. This team’s window is running out, I’m just hoping and praying they can strike while the iron is hot. Happy for them, but scared still.

  10. “Fuck all you crazy people making shit up.”

    -Terry Pegula ca. 2023
    (Paraphrased)

  11. No brainer. They turned our team from mediocrity to playoff/championship caliber.

  12. There will will be mfers saying this is a terrible idea.

One question: how good were we before McD and Beane?

Another question: How many previous Coaches/GMs actually won playoff games prior to McD and Beane?

These two are the best we’ve had in literal decades. Some of you idiots seem to have a hard-on for structural instability and want to go back to the dark years.

Sure, they aren’t the best all-time. Sure, the team needs some work to truly go all the way. I’m gonna be honest, I do not care. This is best Bills football I have seen in my life (I was born this century), and I’ll be damned if this gets taken away from me

  13. Ugh, I just assumed this would be the season McD circled the drain. Judging by mini-camp I thought that was being fast tracked.

  14. Hahahahahah, all those people saying MCD was on the hot seat. Hahahahahaha.

  15. Everyone wants the Super Bowl and that hasn’t come, but the Bills are getting annual playoff wins, so these two deserve more time to work on the plan. The most pressing issue with McDermott is getting the team to get progress deeper in the playoffs and he needs Beane to start hitting on draft picks to be better than average starter, as he hasn’t really drafted a blue-chip player since Josh’s draft.

  16. Russerts comment on the Instagram post is spot on. Everything that went bad last year, Vons ACL, Damar and his cardiac arrest, Kim getting sick, multiple blizzards, etc.. McDermott took them to 13-3 with the 3 losses by a combined 8 points.

  17. Stability and continuity are crucial for sustained excellence, so I like this move.

No one should ever lose perspective that we endured a 17 year playoff drought and 25 year playoff win/division title drought before McBeane got here. Since then, we’ve had double digit win seasons 4 years in a row, and won the division and playoff games 3 years in a row.

I understand the goal is a SB title and we haven’t gotten there, but as long as JA is at the helm we’re going to get many cracks at it. We’re really not that far off, we’ve hung with or beaten KC, the gold standard, the past few years. Just need some better luck and it could happen!

  18. Can either of these guys pass block?? Not sure why we’re signing dudes who haven’t played in decades. That beane kid hasn’t played since high school!
