Stein also says Porzingis used the threat of signing with the Utah Jazz in free agency to steer himself to the Boston Celtics.

I’ll always love Marcus but time to accept he is gone for now and welcome the unicorn to Boston.

6 years later and we finally have him, didnt have to give up JB or the Tatum Brooklyn pick either
Kinda surreal that we have him on our team now. Remember when folks wanted us to draft Dragan Bender b/c he was thought to be the next Porzingis? LOL
Brogdon and Porzingis both had Boston as preferred trade destinations. Obviously Brogdon had his coach change, got injured at the end, and almost just got traded.
But it’s still nice players want to be here. If Brogdon can accept the rumor, I’m okay with trading him or keeping him.
So Porzingis used the Jazz as leverage to get to Boston
Used that threat to get an opt-in and trade
I wonder if old friend Ainge was just helping us out on this.
