[Stein] I continue to hear nothing but strong confidence emanating from the Bay Area that an agreement on a multi-year deal for Green to stay right where he’s always been is forthcoming. A three-year deal, league sources say, is a popular current projection for the 33-year-old

> **I continue to hear nothing but strong confidence emanating from the Bay Area that an agreement on a multi-year deal for Green to stay right where he’s always been is forthcoming. A three-year deal, league sources say, is a popular current projection for the 33-year-old.**

> Warriors sought out the Jordan Poole-to-Washington trade in large part to make sure they shed one significant salary this offseason and ensure that new deals for Green and, later, Klay Thompson are financially feasible under the rules of the NBA’s new CBA. In the wake of Poole’s exit and even accounting for Sacramento’s sudden ability to spend after shedding Richaun Holmes’ contract, **I’m told it would remain shocking in the extreme for Green to land elsewhere once NBA free agency officially begins Friday at 6 PM ET.**

> Draymond Green’s forthcoming free agency appeared to get unexpectedly interesting on draft night when the Sacramento Kings put themselves in position to create more than $30 million in salary cap space. Pursuing Green, given his defensive know-how and quarterbacking skills, seems like such a natural for the Kings as they prepare to build on this season’s 48-win campaign and solidify themselves as a perennial Western Conference contender. So should the Warriors fear a legitimate Green pursuit from a team that resides less than 90 miles from San Francisco…And which is coached by a close Draymond confidant in Mike Brown…And whose owner, Vivek Ranadivé, has long been known to be interested in all things Golden State since his time as a Warriors minority owner? **My read is no.**

> Even before agreeing to trade for Boston’s Marcus Smart this week, **Memphis did not have more than the midlevel exception to offer free agents. League sources say that the Grizzlies nonetheless had strong interest in Green and were plotting to make some sort of run at him.** That’s despite all the trash talk that has bounced back and forth between the two teams. An offer stemming from the $12.4 million midlevel exception would certainly not be enough to make a credible play for Green. I’m told that the **Grizzlies’ pre-Smart interest in Green was genuine**. And it’s fascinating to simply consider the idea of Green engaging Memphis in free agency conversations after the teams’ past battles. Much of Green’s past tension with Memphis, to be fair, involved Grizzlies free agent-to-be Dillon Brooks.

  1. Dray wants Poole money now so this should be interesting. You saw the mini documentary with the crashing waves at the beach.

  2. Seems like a good deal, it matches Steph’s contract length so it keeps the competitive window open and all parties can reassess where they stand when the deal expires. Not sure why people care so much about the dollar amount, Green walking for nothing doesn’t create any extra cap space or maneuverability for us unless we blow the entire team up.

  3. all the rumors are probably just green trying to negotiate and pressure the dubs for more $

  4. Pay him Wiggins/Jordan Poole money. Draymond is very important, but if he wants more, he’s crazy.

The Warriors would have options: Brook Lopez and Jakob Poeltl off the top of my head, because then they’d be under the cap.

  5. Ehhhh, not like he really could go anywhere else and get the kind of money that GS will be giving him. He just doesn’t have the same value and fit for any other team.
