What Will the Mavs Starting 5 Look Like in 2 Years?

Will OMP be the lockdown 3 and D wing that Luka needs to be flanked by so that he can spend most of his energy directing the offense? Will he develop into being able to a 40% NBA 3-Point Shooter?

Will Josh Green’s confidence and development open up so he realizes his potential and is either a 6th Man of the Year candidate or a stable starting wing?

Will Kyrie re-sign and develop into an off-the-ball contributor when Luka is on the floor and a top dog when he’s not? Will Kyrie’s destabilizing personality and various eccentricities damage the team chemistry and result in yet another trade?

Will Derek Lively II develop a potent repertoire of post moves and be able to hit the 3-ball enough to pull opponents out of the paint so that Luka has room to get to the hoop and finish without too much resistance?

[Will Dallas not being able to get a 3rd max salary player actually be a blessing for their team-building efforts with the new CBA luxury tax aprons or when the new TV deals kick and the salary cap soars will they be in PERFECT position to land a star to compliment Luka so he doesn’t bolt in free agency?](https://www.spotrac.com/nba/dallas-mavericks/cap/2025//)

    Lively (maybe someone like poeltl if lively doesnt live up to the hype)///that’s assuming that kyrie doesnt leave by the next season

  16. Prolly without kyrie in the picture, luka hanging on by a thread to the Mavs, with likely a bunch of players that would be 3rd string on other teams

  17. realistically if all goes well in their development luka, irving, green, omax, lively. green will guard the best scoring guards, omax will defender the better scoring forward, lively will support the interior and irving and luka will just make them work for the bucket. on offense they will let luka and irving kill it while hardy comes off the bench to dump 20 off the bench winning 10 straight 6th man of the year titles.

  20. Let’s get crazy..Draymond Green signs 1 yr deal with Lakers. He and LeBron come to Dallas as unrestricted FAs next yr 😈. And we keep Josh Green, Jaden Hardy, OMAX, and Derrick Lively. I know..not possible, but a guy can dream.

  22. In a perfect world, our starting 5 is Luka/Hardy/Green/OMP/Lively (maybe Green off the bench, OMP at the three, and a different 4?), with Luka as reigning MVP, Hardy with a 6MOTY and being a 20PPG scorer, and Green/OMP/Lively being one of the better defensive frontcourts in the league.
