[Mercogliano] I’ve had a few people ask about this. Fact is, because the NYR have traded 19 total picks since Drury took over in 2021, they don’t have much ammo to move up. Here’s what is more likely: A trade down from 23 to stockpile more picks, especially if prospects they like are falling

  1. Just more of that great GM work by Drury. Actively made the roster worse the past 2 years overall AND traded away 19 picks, including 3 first rounders

  2. I hope this doesn’t come to fruition and they keep their first round pick.

  3. What really sucks is this years draft seems very very deep with the entire top 20 potential picks looking like very good prospects. Some drafts are very very shallow but this one looks great and a we will be on the outside looking in

  4. NYR and trading away draft picks is like listening to Emo/punk music… it’s not just a phase, it’s a lifestyle

  5. He needs to go. How on earth he thought trading for Kane on one leg for 2 2nd rounders is just pathetic.

  6. For those interested, here is a breakdown of the Chris Drury era so far via cap friendly. I am missing one draft pick somewhere but cannot spend anymore time on this lol. I removed draft picks acquired, that we ended up trading away for something else.

    **Misc**:

    * Drafts complete: 2
    * Playoff appearances: 2
    * ECF appearances: 1
    * Coaches hired: 2
    * Coaches fired: 1
    * NMC (Trade and move) given: 5
    * Cap hit responsibility: $42.45 million in 2023-24 cap hit space was signed by Drury and not predecessor. That is 50.8%
    * Chris Drury has traded away at least one full draft class in total (rounds 1-7). He is one 5th and 6th rounder away from trading away two entire draft classes (may be coming with Goodrow dump). From there, we are leftover with two 2nds, three 3rds and one 4th.

  7. Begging for a trade down unless a top 10 player plummets down the board.

    Need to get this pipeline filled back up.
